The shrine’s passage loomed before me, its entrance dimly illuminated by the soft glow of the Whispering Lights. Taking a deep breath, I stepped inside. With 10,005 steps, today’s journey would take me far beyond the forest I once knew.
The air inside was ancient—thick with the scent of damp stone and something older, something watching. Bioluminescent patterns swirled along the walls, shifting in response to my presence. I traced a hand over them, and at my touch, the chamber trembled.
From the depths of the cave, a figure stirred. At first, I thought it was another statue, but then it moved. A pair of glowing eyes opened, filled with wisdom beyond time.
"Seeker of the Path," a voice echoed, neither loud nor soft, but resonating deep in my bones. "You have awakened the Guardian of the Hidden Veil."
The stone guardian, covered in intricate carvings, slowly unfurled its limbs. Light pulsed through its body like a heartbeat.
"You walk with purpose. But do you walk with understanding?"
The ground shifted beneath me as the patterns on the walls spiraled outward, forming a celestial map. Stars blinked to life, reflecting constellations I had never seen before. The guardian reached toward the map, and one star flared brighter than the rest.
"This is your next destination."
The words filled my mind with clarity. The journey was no longer just about steps—it was about following the path that had always been waiting for me.
