Today in the world of American Football... (NFL)
What a day in the NFL...
I know my audience, the majority of you don't like, don't watch, or don't care about American Football... but this writer lives for it... breathes it, and can't stand the months of May - July as there is nothing going on regarding the NEW American Pastime... The NATIONAL Football League (NFL)
Making the news today was actions surrounding two of the best QBs in the league... First Aaron Rodgers signs a reported $200 million dollar contract extension with the Green Bay Packers, the contract will guarantee he will retire in Green Bay and allow him to try and get another Super Bowl Championship. The rumors were flying in the still short offseason that he would be moving on from Green Bay, but it was not to happen as he has decided to come back and keep fighting. The Packers also placed the franchise tag on Wide Receiver Davonte Adams, Rodgers' favorite target, thus guaranteeing him at least one more season in Green Bay.
The other news of the day in the NFL... Star quarterback Russell Wilson was traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Denver Broncos for multiple draft picks and players. Wilson has been with the Seahawks since he was drafted 10 years ago and was the franchise QB that the Seahawks needed at the time. Wilson led them to two Super Bowl appearances during his tenure, winning one of them, Super Bowl XLVIII, and has been a staple in the Seattle community for the entire time he has been on the Seahawks.
The previous paragraphs are the vanilla version of what happened today... the following sentences are my outlook on what this means to the players, the teams, and the NFL in general...
First, regarding Rogers...
This is HUGE!!! Packer fans (including a very good friend of mine) felt he was gone... they thought HE would be the QB to go to Denver and not Wilson. Rogers coming back shows me that he loves Green Bay, the Packers Organization, and the fact he doesn't want to play for any other franchise. he is loyal to the Green & Gold and wants to retire as a Packer. This is great for the organization, great for the fans, and great for him. Even though I am not a Packers fan, I could not imagine him playing for any other team, so much as it was weird seeing Joe Montana playing for Kansas City back in the 90s and Peyton Manning ending his career in Denver for the Broncos. It just wouldn't feel right seeing him in another uniform. Good for him and good for the Packers organization for making this happen...
Second, Regarding Wilson...
Again, this is HUGE... This trade came out of NOWHERE and was not on the radar screen of any of the pundits or media members, which is why it is so shocking to all of us, including me. As mentioned above, Wilson has been with the Seahawks since he was drafted 10 years ago and seemed destined to finish his career in Seattle, immortally locked with Pete Carrol (head Coach of Seattle) for the remainder of his career. Instead, Wilson goes to Denver, who has been in search of a quality QB since Peyton Manning retired six years ago. Wilson immediately has an impact on the AFC West, as now that division promises to be the best division in football, with Wilson, Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City), Derek Carr (Las Vegas), and gunslinger Justin Herbert (LA Chargers) all in the same division. Business is about to pick up in the AFC West and the NFL is a better product because of it... I am SO looking forward to seeing how this plays out next season.

Bills by a billion!
I'm with you Jon... but the AFC is now the juggernaut of the NFL... it will be harder to get to the Super Bowl in the AFC than the NFC... I wish the Bills luck...
Let the west beat each other up all season. we have a straight path to playoffs as long as it's McNoodle arm and Tua as the QBs in the east lol
Great picture of the stadium. Go Browns. Love to have you on a Browns Wednesday fancast this Fall.
Are we going to draft a QB this year?

Hey John, thanks for replying... I would love to appear on your fancast once the season gets going, I am sure we can have some strong discussion!! The Browns are not going to draft a QB this year, first, they already have one, love him or hate him. Second, this year's draft class is HORRIBLE, so bad that the WFT (Commanders) traded for Carson Wentz, The Broncos gave up the farm for Russell Wilson, and The Packers, who already have Jordon Love, who they drafted as the heir apparent, just forked out 200mil for a 39-year-old Aaron Rogers... Maybe those last two moves were good for both teams, but no one is touting the talent in this year's QB draft class.
Ron Wolf always says draft a QB every year. We need a backup, keenum is meh, could get a better replacement cheaper. I still think that even though scouts have determined this draft class horrible, two will be taken in the first round.
For me, I'll take someone who is tall enough to see over his lineman. Washington is a desperate team. I bet they regret this decision about half way through next year.
