Drama at Anfield as Liverpool fc came from behind to get Leicester city defeated in the EFL Cup
This will go down in history as one of the best comeback match that we have experienced when it comes to the EFL cup. At a point in time am already discouraged following the scores I was seeing. To show how disappointed I am I had to leave the match and stop watching it for some minutes but was surprised to see the outcome at almost the end of the match. It was my brother, a Manchester United fan that called me telling me that there is changes in the game.
When he called me I was adamant to give a look to what he was trying to get my attention to. This is simply because I was thinking he wants to make a laughing stock of what he was trying to get my attention to. I already wrote the match off because of the result I was already seeing. I was trying to avoid his laughing scene because I know for sure he will laugh at me if it gets to such stage. While he still keeps dragging my attention to the match, I walked out of the house because I can't stand to bear his laughter. My brother is one funny human that can laugh you and you will get confused at the end.
Before I talked about how it happened I want to first of all draw our attention to how it started. I remembered that I blogged about this match and someone comment that he is sure that Leicester city will walk away with the three point and they will progress into the next round. When I engage in my research I had reason to believe what he said. This is because I knows Jurgen Klopp very well. He will be using this match to give some players the avenue to perform and also as a stepping stone for them to show us what they got.
This is one of the reason I so much love Jurgen Klopp, he is after giving everybody the ability to showcase the ball trait that they possess. There is no way you will be under Jurgen Klopp and you won't have playing time. I believe many coaches are learning from him and how he renders his service. Although I have said this before but permit me to say it again, Jurgen Klopp is one of the best coach in the world and if you are not careful enough he will surprise you with a team selection you will never believe in.
Now when the dude told me that he is certain that Liverpool fc will loose the match I believe. This is the reason he stated and he is somehow right. He said that he is certain that Jurgen Klopp will be featuring his reserved side and Leicester city will capitalize on that by featuring their best side. The moment he said that I know that this is surely the way things will plays out. I had to rush down and check Jurgen Klopp squad selection the moment it was released. Well, I wasn't surprised any more because I already knows that what he said is the gospel truth. I was wondering why Jurgen Klopp is playing with this competition knowing fully well that he has gone far. At least he should put in his best Knowing fully well that he is close to lifting this trophy. At least we knows that all cup are vital, lifting this cup won't meant bad for the Liverpool fc team.
One thing that I have always grown into doing is that when Jurgen Klopp releases any squad list, I always believe in it. In fact I believe all his selection without thinking twice. This is simply because I knows his worth and how he always delivers. With only that, it shows that he is welcomed at Anfield as he can takes whatsoever decisions that he likes without being questioned. With the squad I was seeing I was already discouraged. The match started and it took the Leicester city side just 9 minutes into the match to get a goal through Jamie Vardy as the assist came from James Maddison. The moment this goal came in I became tired towards the match because I knows that Liverpool fc will want to score while Leicester city will capitalize on that more.
Just like what I predicted, do you knows that Leicester city got the second through Jamie Vardy again in the 13th minute through Patson Daka assist. Immediately this goal came in I became more discouraged because I know it will rain more. But for the love of my team I was still watching the match. Liverpool fc were able to retaliate in the 19th minute through A. Oxlade-Chamberlain. The assist came from Roberto Firmino who is still struggling to pick up a good form. This gave me a little relief not in the 33minute that James Maddison add another for Leicester city to make it 3 versus 1 in favour of his team, Leicester city.
Well, I just have to leave the match because I was already discouraged following what I am already seeing. That is what ended the first half. The second half started and this time around it was Diego Jota the substitute in place of Bradley C that scored to make it 2-3 through Takumi Minamino assist in the 68th minute. The moment this goal came in I had little relief but was still scared to some extent so I had to leave the match because I was afraid on how it will turn. I keep piping through live score to see the result. The more I check the more I became discouraged. I checked till it got to 90 minutes plus before my brother called me that we have gotten the equalizing goal. At first I thought he was trying to make a laughing stock out of what is already happening but that didn't happened. I checked and I saw that Takumi Minamino got the equalizing goal in the final minute through James Milner assist. It was a lovely see through ball that Takumi Minamino controlled well and also buried well. You need to see my face and the laughter in it. The laughter knows no bound, I was just happy that we finally equalized just like what I wanted.
Since we are already levelled on point I am no longer afraid again. I am now waiting to see how the penalty kick will go. To cut the long story short, we have Luke Thomas and Ryan Bertrand loosing for the Leicester city side while Takumi Minamino our hero lost his penalty kick. Well as we have it, Diego Jota stood up and converted his chance, this goal gave us the lead as it takes us into the next round of the competition. We are now in the Quarter final of the competition, we are to play against Arsenal fc in a double leg encounter. The first one will be played at Emirate stadium while the last leg encounter will be played at Anfield. Well, I am so happy with this win, all my nerves are now working properly. You just need to see the smile on my face, such a lovely nice looking match I must admit.
I will end the post here, if you have any else to say please air your view by commenting.
