18K Steps long day with trip to Vancouver. My Actifit Report Card: November 10 2023
You know the day is starting very early when you are walking the dog in pitch black except for the Christmas lights on the neighbors house.
5:30am and I'm up walking the dog. Now today is a lot earlier than usual because at 7:00am I'm going to take my wife into Vancouver as she's participating in a BC Kidney Days event.
Now while I'm walking the dog I run into a bit of a weird problem. Just down the road from our house I saw a homeless man walking on the street. I'm walking the dog and he starts barking at the homeless person.
My dog is a little bigoted. He doesn't like Homeless or Indian people. I don't know why. Maybe they smell funny to him. Maybe they walk funny. Maybe its just the shadows at 5:30am.
Regardless, I don't really want an 80lb dog to get close to someone who is making him anxious. I doubt that would end well for anyone. So, I'm guiding Nico away from the homless person.
Then I get a sneering comment. What? Your just going to ignore me and not help. Now, I'm not too sure what to do. I don't mind helping this person but bringing my dog close to him is a bad idea. I walk a little closer to the person and let him know "I don't mind helping but I doubt you want my dog to get too close to you, as you can hear from his barking he's agitated".
Well, the guy just wanted directions so I gave him directions from a healthy distance and then went on my way.
Still.... if you look at this picture:
The homeless person was standing by the taffic light, I was standing near the back of the parking lot. Does that really look like somewhere you want to be interacting with someone?
Not really. Right?
Anyways, got home then off to Vancouver. I only drove halfway then it was time to take the train the rest of the way.
My wife and I stayed in a nice hotel with a wonderful view...
However, my wife left me for the morning and early afternoon. In the morning I hung out in the lounge drinking free drinks and munching on free snacks. Decided to make a post for #hivelearners
and also played some Splinterlands.
As the morning wore on I decided to go for a walk around town. Got some more steps that way.
Just thought I would take a picture of Vancouver Library. Iconic part of Vancouver and the backdrop of so many film sets.
...
and that was most of my steps for the day. Now there is more to tell about the day...
But I'll save that for tomorrow's post.
Why?
Because tomorrow is pretty much just a work and walk day and nothing to take pictures of :)
So.
Thanks for reading today.
Until tomorrow :)

You should give lessons to your dog not to bark on homeless people. Hehehe
The front view from hotel is really cool. I hope you are enjoying your free drinks and snacks.

My son and dog were attacked by a homeless person and his dog when he was a puppy. No amount of training will overcome that. I wish my dog wasn't bigoted but he a dog. He likes what he likes... even certain dog breeds freak him out. He's weird 😉
