Yea, don't think I could make it in the US, I never learned to drive, works fine in the UK though.

Yeah you'd basically have to commit to living in an urban center. Many downtown cities are walkable and bikable, so provided you do a little bit of planning, I'm sure you could find your way in a place like Las Vegas, Chicago, New Orleans, San Fransisco, Boston, DC, or Atlanta.
It's not easy because the US sold its soul to the auto industry, but it is not impossible to enjoy a car-free life in The States.
