Royal Rumble 2022 An Entertaining Change To Watch From The Usual 📺
Though a bit late, because the event had taken place approximately three weeks ago, I've just watched the Royal Rumble 2022 and what a nice change from the programs I usually watch. Especially the main events, which were the Women's and Men's Royal Rumble.
To those who find the WWE matches more entertainment than a real sport, I agree and yet one can't deny the strength, agility, flexibility and athleticism needed to participate on that level. Not to forget what those performers are letting their bodies go through, both in and out of the ring.
Back to Royal Rumble, which was scheduled for January 29, 2022 and held at The Dome at America's Center in St. Louis, Missouri, started with the match between Seth "Freakin" Rollins and Roman Reigns. I wasn't particularly enjoying this match, especially at the end when Reigns ignored the rules and took actions that were worthy of disqualifying him.
After that, the Women's Royal Rumble started and I said out loud "THIS I want to watch". I actually wasn't planning on watching Royal Rumble, but my partner had started the program and I went along and didn't regret the decision afterwards.
It was nice to see the old and the new generation and the strength and especially agility these women have. I also enjoyed seeing some "illegal" moves back in the ring from Lita, even though I cringed from the beating the bodies had to go through. Heck, I grew up in the '90's and early 2000's, when those moves were still allowed.
And though I never really liked the character Molly Holly - now known as Mighty Holly - I did get a laugh out of her stint with NIKKI A.S.H., who is the new superhero in town according to the latter. And then there were four: Baszler, Rousey, Belair and Flair. Belair and Flair were actually my favorites, but as predicted by my "tv-buddy" Rousey won the Rumble, which would be a nice re-introduction of her into the limelight.
After the Women's Rumble, there were the matches between Becky Lynch versus Doudrop, Bobby Lashley versus Brock Lesnar and Edge & Beth Phoenix versus The Miz & Maryse. These were the usual matches, with little to no surprises, with the exception of Roman Reigns' underhanded tactics during the match between Lesnar and Lashley. It was also weird to see Edge back in the ring after having seen him in the tv-series Vikings.
During the Men's Royal Rumble I had a laugh and couldn't help myself shouting at our screen, especially at the antics and showmanship of Shinsuke Nakamura and the musician Bad Bunny, who stayed in the ring even though Lesnar came in as the last entrant. With those power houses left - Randy Orton, Lesnar, Riddle, Shane McMahon, Drew McIntyre - in the ring, I would've "eliminated" myself 😂.
The winner for this match was also predictable after Lesnar entered and like with the Women's Royal Rumble the match between the two last remaining was too short in our opinion. But entertained we were never the less. Did you watch the Royal Rumble 2022 and if so what was your experience?
