One Color Challenge: Purple [SPA/ENG]

Hola, espero estén teniendo un hermoso día. Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mi más reciente dibujo, para ser sincera pensé que no lo subiría. Yo no estoy acostumbrada a dibujar objetos, por lo que no tengo una idea clara de cómo se ven en mi estilo y digamos que una vez los termino, me toma algo de tiempo darme cuenta de si me gustan o no. En un inicio siento algo de rechazo y me preguntó seriamente "¿Por qué hice esto?"

Hi, I hope you are having a beautiful day. Today I want to share with you my most recent drawing, to be honest I thought I wouldn't upload it. I'm not used to draw objects, so I don't have a clear idea of how they look in my style and let's say that once I finish them, it takes me some time to realize if I like them or not. At first I feel some rejection and seriously ask myself "Why did I do this?"

Pasados unos días, este sentimiento desparece y puedo ver el dibujo de forma objetiva. A lo que quiero llegar al sacar esto a relucir, es a lo siguiente. La verdad es que, me cuesta aceptar que puedo dibujar más que solo personajes... Porque en definitiva, es algo que puedo hacer aunque me falta práctica. Aquí les dejo un dibujo digital que hice hace menos de dos años, como podrán notar, en este solo incluí objetos. Fue una experiencia sumamente liberadora, realizar este dibujo me dio la oportunidad de hacer algo distinto aunque el proceso fue algo complicado... Este fue el último dibujo que logré hacer, antes de que me diagnosticaran tenosinovitis.

After a few days, this feeling disappears and I can see the drawing objectively. What I want to get to by bringing this up is the following. The truth is, it's hard for me to accept that I can draw more than just characters... Because ultimately, it's something I can do even though I lack practice. Here is a digital drawing I did less than two years ago, as you may notice, in this one I only included objects. It was a very liberating experience, making this drawing gave me the opportunity to do something different although the process was a little complicated... This was the last drawing I managed to do, before I was diagnosed with tenosynovitis.

Una de las cosas que he notado como artista, es que tengo la tendencia a encasillar mi trabajo y esto me genera demasiados problemas. A me encantaría aprender a dibujar otro tipo de cosas, no sentir miedo a experimentar en otras áreas y a su vez dar vida a otro tipo de obras. Lo curioso es que a nivel de técnicas y texturas, no tengo este problema de hecho suelo experimentar muchísimo pero cuando se trata de las cosas que dibujo como tal... Me cuesta.

One of the things I have noticed as an artist, is that I tend to pigeonhole my work and this creates too many problems for me. I would love to learn to draw other kinds of things, to not be afraid to experiment in other areas and at the same time give life to other kinds of works. The funny thing is that when it comes to techniques and textures, I don't have this problem, in fact I usually experiment a lot, but when it comes to the things I draw as such... I have a hard time.

Me cuesta elegir lo que voy a dibujar y más si lo que tengo en mente, es algo que no se relaciona con las cosas que suelo hacer. Es frustrante pero sé que es algo que puedo superar, me encantaría saber si tienen alguna recomendación o si han pasado por algo similar.

I have a hard time choosing what I'm going to draw and even more so if what I have in mind is something that doesn't relate to the things I usually do. It's frustrating but I know it's something I can overcome, I would love to know if you have any recommendations or if you have gone through something similar.

Volviendo al dibujo en si, esta idea nació a partir de un reto que me propuse hacer. La idea es elegir un color y hacer una ilustración usando únicamente dicho color. Siento que es algo que se adapta muy bien a mis necesidades actuales y es un escenario que se presta para hacer otro tipo de cosas. Empecé con el morado porque es mi color favorito y ese hecho facilitó un poco las cosas, además las uvas son mis frutas preferidas. Por lo que hice un tarro de mermelada de uva, para la forma del mismo, me basé en el frasco que vidrio que suelo utilizar para tomar agua.

Back to the drawing itself, this idea was born out of a challenge I set out to do. The idea is to choose a color and make an illustration using only that color. I feel it's something that fits very well with my current needs and it's a scenario that lends itself to do other kinds of things. I started with purple because it's my favorite color and that fact made things a little easier, plus grapes are my favorite fruit. So I made a grape jam jar, for the shape of it, I based it on the glass jar that I usually use to drink water.

Tener una referencia en físico, en definitiva me ayudó un montón a entender la forma y así plasmarla de la mejor manera posible. Fue mi primera vez haciendo algo como esto y considero que me fue bastante bien. Si se preguntan por qué recorté el dibujo... Fue porque me emocioné agregando elementos y al final, no me gustó como quedó. Por eso decidí quedarme con la parte del dibujo que si me gustó y siento que fue una buena decisión. De hecho, al ver el tarro de mermelada recortado... No pude evitar pensar en un sticker, así que lo más probable es que, termine digitalizando este dibujo.

Having a physical reference, definitely helped me a lot to understand the shape and thus shape it in the best possible way. It was my first time doing something like this and I think it went pretty well. If you're wondering why I cut out the drawing... It was because I got excited adding elements and in the end, I didn't like how it turned out. That's why I decided to keep the part of the drawing that I did like and I feel it was a good decision. In fact, when I saw the jam jar cut out... I couldn't help thinking about a sticker, so I will probably end up digitizing this drawing.
