On Friday night, the Three Lions host Australia at Wembley in a friendly matchup before hosting Italy in a European qualification match. In the lead-up to England's encounter, Gallagher, who has been captaining Chelsea in Reece James' absence recently, lauded both of his head coaches for club and country. Gallagher has expressed his hope that Gareth Southgate will choose him to start for England this week as a result of his excellent recent performance at the club level. My recent success with Chelsea gives me a lot of confidence going into this camp, and I'm currently in a pretty good mood. Working with Mauricio is excellent; he's a great manager and a great guy as well. We are really enjoying working with him and are hope to really take off now, even if we are aware that we are still somewhat of a work in progress as a club and as a squad. Raheem Sterling, a teammate from the Blues, is once again left out of the latest England squad, joining fellow Cobham graduate Colwill, a man Conor believes has a bright future in the game. Gallagher has nothing but love for Sterling and the influence he is making with the Blues so far this season, despite Southgate's decision to leave the attacker out of the team.
Raheem, he's a fantastic player about our No. 7, Conor commented. He is excellent mentally as well. His professionalism and demeanour are great. He was our best player in the most recent match against Burnley, demonstrating his talent and value to the team. I'm hoping he can continue to perform like that. I think highly of Levi," added Gallagher.
He is very talented and still so young, with a lot of promise. He has performed admirably for Chelsea thus far this year, and given his current form, I am confident that he will continue to excel for Chelsea and England in the years to come.
