UCL ROUND UP
I should have written this a couple of days ago, but I keep postponing it. Today is a Muslim holiday, so I get to rest in the house; plus Monday, lol. Football fans like me have enjoyed peak entertainment these past few weeks, especially a couple of days ago. We enjoyed Europe's finest clubs lock horns in Europe's premier club competition. Epic scenes you see. My last UCL round up was one I lamented my woes as a Chelsea fan, similar story again today.
CHELSEA VS REAL MADRID (0-2)
AH, here we go again. Another disappointing result for the Blues. It seems to be going from bad to worse for Chelsea football club. After another two-nil defeat at their backyard to Los Blancos, Frank Lampard boys crash out of all competition this season with very slim chances of European football next season. With Chelsea not playing the champions league next season, that means the majority of the Chelsea players had a huge pay cut as a result of a clause in the contract they signed. I do not recognize my club anymore.
NAPOLI VS AC MILAN (1-1)
Napoli welcomed Milan to the Diego Maradona stadium after suffering a narrow one-nil defeat in the reverse fixture at San Siro. But this time, they were with their star striker, Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian forward could only do so much, after stealing a late equalizer to tie the match at 1-1 but saw Napoli crash out on aggregate.
BAYERN MUNICH VS MAN CITY (1-1)
After a thumping victory at the Etihad, City looked set to enter the Semi Final of the Champions League yet again, but this team, hoping to go all the way. A one-one draw ensured qualification which seemed sealed already from the first leg. But they face familiar foes in the next round. Although they got eliminated by Real Last time out, City looks a determined side this time around.
INTER MILAN VS BENFICA (3-3)
We were delighted to an incredible six-goal thriller at San Siro. Benfica looked to overcome a two-nil first-leg defeat going into the match, but they played catch-up all game. They had a great run.
A great round this was, but definitely not for me as a Chelsea Fan. I can't wait for the season to end. Thank you for reading. Cheers.
