Gameweek 12 Review - EPL

What a game week that was. There were good results, expected result as we anticipated and then of course the shocker. Game week 12 delivered premium entertainment and here I am again to help you unravel it.

Leicester Vs Chelsea - 1 - 2

  • I would say it was as expected. Chelsea looked like a team who found their mojo, and Leicester were the complete opposite of that. The blues dominated the ball for majority of the game, and they were rewarded just fifteen minutes into the game as Nicolas Jackson capitalized on a Waut Faes error to poke the ball past Mads Hermansen. Enzo Fernandez reacted the quickest to a rebound to head past the Leicester goal keeper later on in the second half to give Chelsea their second. It was too little too late for Steve Cooper's men as Ayew slotted home his penalty kick at the dying minute of the game to half the deficit after a foul on Decordova Reid. Happy returns for Enzo Maresca and a farewell bid for Steve Cooper as the team parted ways with him.

Arsenal Vs Nottingham Forest - 3- 0

  • A dominant display from the gunners saw them cruise past forest thanks to goals from Saka, a screamer from Partey and Ethan Nwaneri. The later, becoming Arsenal's second youngest goal scorer in the Premier League. Arteta has got his team back firing again.

Man City Vs Tottenham - 0 - 4

  • A scoreline you wouldn't believe actually happened. Tottenham Hotspur handed Pep Guradiola and his team their fifth straight loss in all competition. The first time ever in Pep's career. That means Liverpool are now eight points clear at the top after their win at the saint Mary's stadium with just twelve games played. Incredible.

Ipswich Vs Manchester United - 1 - 1

  • It was not the fairy tale start for new head coach, Reuben Amorim as his side were held to a one one draw at Portman road. It was not their best outing as the Red devils struggled to create clear cut chances. It seemed like it was going to be a dream start for the Portuguese head coach when his team took the lead just two minutes into the game thanks to a Marcus Rashford finish, but a late first half wonder strike from former blue, Omari Hutchinson canceled out the goal as the game pittered away. Lots of work for the new manager it seems.

Southampton Vs Liverpool - 2 - 3

  • The League leaders picked up all three points to extend their lead at the summit to eight points already thanks to a sublime strike by Dominic Szoboslai and a brace by Mohammed Salah. Southampton had earlier come from behind to take the lead in the 56th minute but the Egyptian king had other ideas as he took his goal tally to ten goals already this season.

What a game week it was. The excitement was thick in the air and there is so much more to look forward to next weekend. The best news probably is that there would be no more international breaks till March 2025. Anyways, what did you think of the weekend games? Thank you for reading. Cheers.
