Morning Run: Timberrrrr!

I just finished a 7.438km running that lasted about 0hh:42mm:17ss !

Today was my first run in a while. I was away at the weekend and hoped to run then, but Sunday morning started with fierce winds and I decided it was not worth the risk. I did get out today when it was not too windy. I did the usual Fairfield loop and on the way up the hill I encountered several fallen trees. Some had been partially cleared.

I was not going too hard today, but the pace was not bad. As usual I got quicker as I went along with a peak as I came back down the hill. I do have a bit of a cold, but I am hoping it is not COVID.

I saw a few other runners. I considered trying to catch up with one, but he looked quicker and turned off anyway. Generally it was not too busy apart from kids going to school. It looks like a lot catch the bus from Fairfield. I try to avoid crowds on my runs.

The UK has suffered from several big storms in the last week, but I hope we have seen the last of them for a while. A lot of people will have repairs to do. I need to put a fence panel back up.

Run free and stay well.

Wow, those must have been some pretty intense winds. Do you know what they were gusting up to? We had some gusts up to 40 MPH the other day (64 KPH for you).

Actually we still tend to use MPH for speed and I think it was getting to around 50 here, but much higher elsewhere. On the south coast they recorded 120 MPH!

Have you seen this site where you can check the local wind speeds?

Oh dang, that is like hurricane force winds there! Do you folks typically get stuff like that or is this the first time?

This is pretty rare, but maybe we can expect it more often with changing climate.

Nicely done but it would have been more better if you had catch up with the guy you saw in front😅

I'm not that quick and I was doing okay anyway. It's not a race.

I heard that the UK had some major storm warnings. It was super windy in Northern France yesterday as well. Lots of downed limbs and what not. Not on the road though lol

I expect that got some of the same storms that swept the UK. This is not normal weather for us.

(Edited)

The weather has gone crazy. When I was up north there were 1000's of trees blown over and uprooted. I'll be posting some photos later.
Good luck with the fence 👍

I heard we've lost about 8 millions trees in the UK this winter. They need to be replaced. I saw at least half a dozen down this morning. Didn't see any damaged houses, but a colleague lost some ridge tiles.

I haven't been to the woods since the storm. I can imagine a number of those trees got blown down too. Someone's car got crushed near my neighbourhood.
