Morning Run: Flying low
I just finished a 12.786km running that lasted about 1hh:11mm:39ss !
It was another bright morning, but much colder than yesterday with some frost about. I was a little late getting up, but once I had had some breakfast I was off out. I have been thinking for a while that I should explore Astwick, so I headed that way.
Once out of Arlesey I took the wide track across the fields to the Astwick road. I took a photo along there. You may just be able to see the water tower by the A1. Astwick has no footpaths along the roads, so I was looking out for traffic. Luckily there was not much about. It is a quaint little place with an old church, some thatched houses and a big barn at a farm.
As I got within sight of the A1 I found a path to cut through to the road that heads back to Stotfold. There are a load of new houses as you come into the village. I took the long way around before heading back towards home.
Back in Arlesey I took the track around the back of the houses past the allotments where I saw a white egret take off. They seem quite shy birds. I also saw a squirrel at the church. As I too the back road after that I heard a buzzing noise and realised that three powered paragliders were flying over. I have not seen them around here before. They must have a great view from up there.
I was tiring by then, but it had been a pretty good run. I had some quick kilometres and I broke a personal segment record through Stotfold. I have been trying to go a bit quicker on long runs and I definitely achieved that today.
For extra wildlife interest I just found a rat's head in the garden when I was cleaning out the chickens. I wonder what happened to the rest of it.
Run free and stay well.

What an amazing day for a run there!
The sunshine was nice, but it felt cold at the start. I soon warm up though. Winter runs can be okay even in 'rainy old England' :)

Same here, we don't reach your temperatures but almost... what we need is some rain here

@toofasteddie(1/1) gave you LUV. H-E tools | connect | <><
We had a little rain yesterday, but not enough to do much. It's been a fairly dry winter generally and no snow.
Here the same...We need water for the summer, will see

.I'm guessing a cat ate that rat and left you the head as a present. They like to do that sort of thing 😆
Could well have been a cat as there are a few around here. Not sure a fox would have done it.
Maybe a fox. I don't know much about foxes really.
That seems to be good walk.
12.78 km is a tough milestone. But you did it. 👏👏👏
I feel sorry for the dead rat.
Maybe a cat or dog torn him to pieces.
I was running all the way :) I have been further before, but this was enough today.
There are lots of cats around here. The rats can be a pain in the garden when they are eating the chicken food and other things. They can stay out in the countryside.
Isn’t it great how Egrets have become resident here in the U.K. as I can remember when they were new around here 😀
I quite often see them, but they rarely hang around for a photo. Get a few herons too. Red kites are pretty common around here now and we often see them. I am no twitcher, but I like to see different birds.

That’s great and we see more Red Kites around here these days. They are spectacular!

.Congratulations for your personal record. I also often walk and run in similar places. The place on your first photo reminds me of the Northern Great Plain, Hungary, where I live nowadays.
Have a nice day and have a nice weekend.
All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.
It's pretty flat around here with lots of farmland. Lots of paths to explore.
This looks easy to you but I guess if I will do it by myself I will be exhausted to death haha because I have no practice running lol, great to know you have a sound body. Keep doing the great work

Maybe this guy got him 😂
I see a load of different cats around the garden. Ours is not out that much as has not killed anything that we know of. The rats are pretty big and might put up a fight.
