Morning Run: Hill start

I just finished a 5.244km running that lasted about 0hh:31mm:18ss !

It is staying relatively warm for the time of year, so I was fine in shorts and t-shirt plus my new Allbirds shoes. As usual on a Tuesday I was aiming to do my hill sprints on West Drive. There is an old guy who empties the litter bins and generally tidies up around Arlesey and today he was clearing leaves up there. That is a big job as it is lines will trees all the way up. He must be quite fit.

I started with the standard longer sprint from the bottom of the road. That went pretty well. I was finding I needed a moment at the top to catch my breath each time, so that may be a sign I was trying harder. The graph shows my heartrate rather than pace this time. It seems my body does recover a little between sprints with a max rate of 175bpm dropping to about 145bpm by the time I jogged down again.

I am still the 'local legend' on Strava for that segment by a long way. I think it is a good workout without having to do massive distance. It is the biggest hill within a twenty minutes of home on foot and I do not want to be out too long before starting work.

The local parkrun are short of volunteers again, so I will see if they are desperate by Saturday to decide if I run or help out.

Run free and stay well.

Nice job on your run. You did much better than me today. I didn't get home till late last night, so I was hoping my wife would just want to stay in bed this morning. She didn't and I was just getting ready to work out when she was having technical issues with the Roku downstairs. It pretty much ruined what little motivation I did have. I ended up doing about 60 crunches, 10 pushups and I held a plank for about 30 seconds which is actually quite impressive for me :)

It's good if you can do any exercise. I try to do some pushups and I use the chinup bar in my son's doorway when I get a chance. I have been managing to do ten of those lately, which is an improvement on previously. I ought to do more plank too. The overeating season is approaching, so I need to stay in shape :)

Yeah, I hear you about the overeating season. I think as long as I do my best to stay consistent over the holiday with my exercise I should be able to indulge a little. I tend to be a bit more careful than I have been in past years with what I put in my body this time of year.

Too many tempting treats around and people tend to sit around a lot. I hope to run across the holiday period to stay in shape.

All you have to do is keep running a segment lots of times. I do that one at least five times per week. I may mix if up a bit more over Xmas when the kids are off.

@dickturpin would agree my legs are legendary!
