I had some cereal and a banana that morning. We had some small snacks afterwards and then a beer! I had lunch when I got home. For a 10k you shouldn't need anything along the way. I've never had any of the gel packs that some runners use. Some sugary sweets may be as good to get an energy boost. Some people had the packpacks with a water supply, but I was hydrated enough. On a really hot day you would need more. They gave out drinks and cereal bars at the finish.
