Morning Run: Windy

avatar

The latest phase in our every-changing weather is wind. It was breezy when I went out before breakfast and may be worse now. Various things are blowing around the garden. Although it was above freezing it felt colder.

Route

I did the clockwise loop around Fairfield. On the way there I was not feeling too quick. I was in the office yesterday and that entails a lot of walking with many stairs. If were doing that every day I might be fitter, but I have not been in much over the last two years.

When I got up the hill I tried a quick-ish run around the estate, which is a Strava segment. As I have said before that is quite up and down. I included my heart rate on the graph and it had a bit of a drop in the middle. Not sure what happened then. The other dip is when I took the selfie. I think one benefit of exercising is that your heart recovers quicker.

Apart from the wind it was a nice morning. I saw lots of people out walking and a few runners. I did not beat any segment records, but I was very slightly quicker than my average for this route. I have run about 38km over the last week. I can feel a bit run down for a while after each run, but I do recover, so I do not this the distance is excessive.

I was listening to the Cryptomaniacs podcast today. Hivers should check it out to hear what @jongolson and @taskmaster4450 have to say.

Run free and stay well.

The wind really is a pain. I feel like it has gotten worse over the past couple of years. It really is horrible when the temperatures are cold and then in the summer it can be a pain when you are trying to tow a trailer. Nice job on your run!

The wind was against me initially, but then I had a tail wind on the way home. It just adds to the workout.

A quicker recovery is always sign of a great fitness shape status.
Your milleage is also giving you a good resistance so, maybe it's time to intensify your speed workouts and move up one fitness level more.
Keep on running.

I am trying to do more speed workouts and I think it is having some effect. parkrun is my benchmark for that.

Well done @steevc . The wind certainly made running this morning a lot tougher than normal. Strava tells me it was 39km/hour for my run but I'm sure it was gusting a lot stronger than that.

It reckons 41 km/h on mine. It has been a really windy day, but calmer now.
