Morning Run: Half term hop
steevc just finished a 7.13km run, that lasted for 41 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 534.0 calories.
Description from Strava:
With a bank holiday on Monday the week is all out of phase. I was in the office yesterday and might have gone today, but there is a train strike. With the kids off school I can run to Stotfold without hitting crowds.
It was another 'wet air' morning and it has turned cooler after the hot weekend. I plodded up the hill to the war memorial as my legs got working. By the time I got down to Stotfold Road I was warmed up and decided to do some fartlek sprints. These get my heart working harder.
I kept doing the sprints on and off to Stotfold. People were queuing at the medical centre there. I went just past them to get to 3km before turning back. I did not stop at the outdoor gym this time.
It was really quiet out there generally. As I passed the school a guy went past on a recumbent bike. I missed getting a photo of that, but took one of the Pendleton sports centre, named after a local Olympian.
I took the long way around Arlesey to get back and make up some distance. My hip was still making itself known, but it is not really painful. I may do less long runs for now, but keep training to maintain my fitness.
I want to do parkrun on Saturday, but will volunteer at least once in June. I hope some of the family will come along.
Run free!

It's similar that we also have cooler weather here after hot weakened 😸
I double layered this morning!
It's so much nicer without the kids, I took advantage of that and went out around 8.00, sans school run!
I didn't need the layers as I soon warmed up. That route is nice and flat, but just too busy normally as kids flood in from two villages.
I did get pretty warn, should've 'been bold and started cold'!
Well done, do you have a total goal for the year or how do you keep yourself motivated?
I have learned that I need some consistent goals during the year, otherwise will have som slacking periods.
I was aiming for at least 30km per week, but I am seeing how it goes with this hip niggle. If it gets worse I will seek medical advice, but I can still run for now.
There is a Strava challenge to do 2023km for the year, but doubt I will achieve that.

Ah, hope that you can get better. Do you know what happend?
I should really change to Strava as well, I'm currently using a app called Sportstracker. But seems like Strava is the place to logg your traning!
Do you pay for strava or free version?
I've felt issues there before, but this has lasted longer. I think it may be a 'getting old' think.
I do pay for Strava to get some extra features. That is optional.

I'll take some of that wetness over here. We are in a severe drought. They have the forest fire warning at extreme right now. It's rare to see it that high this early in the year. Nice job on your run!
We've not had proper rain in a couple of weeks, but not that dry. I know various places in the US have a high risk of forest fire and that must be scary. Climate change is having effects.
It's pretty rough here. We already lost a couple hundred acres of forest in the past week.
Wow, that's terrible.
Nowadays the weather here in Pakistan is also very good, due to which there is a lot of rush in the park in the morning and a lot of people have come and according to normal routine.
Do many people run for fun there? I expect it could get too hot at times. Our climate is less extreme.
