Morning Run: Massacre at Fairfield
steevc just finished a 7.0km run, that lasted for 41 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 531.0 calories.
Description from Strava:
It is getting chilly in the mornings. Strava reckons it was 8C, but feeling like 5C. I can believe that, but I soon warmed up. It was my usual run around Fairfield, clockwise this time. Climbing the hill is always hard and I think the distance I have run this week was taking its toll a bit. I thought of stopping, but kept running.
Actually I did stop for the obligatory selfie by the old gateposts. Just there I found the remains of a pigeon. Could have been a fox that ripped it up, but then cats can also attack them. I am usually not early enough to have a chance of seeing a fox, but I am sure they are around there.
It was fairly quiet this morning with a few kids going to school. I was not beating any personal records today, but I did speed up in the second half. That is partly to do with it being mostly downhill.
I had some blueberries with my cereal today. Neighbour works in a supermarket and gets to pick up some bargains, so she had plenty and gave me a couple of punnets. I will keep those in the freezer and take out what I need for breakfast the night before. A little extra fruit cannot do me any harm. I have had extra bananas this week too. I do love them despite some guilt that they have to be imported. They are still a pretty cheap snack. I wonder if prices will go up much given current world issues. I ought to rely more on the apples and plums we grow in the garden.
Have a great day and run free.

This is one of the minor massacres I have read about recently... Not funny for the pigeon of course, but better a pigeon than a Ukrainian or Syrian village.
I walk 5 km every day recently, but my goal is 7-9 so I am sure to reach those 10-12,000 steps :)
This goes on in nature all the time, but does not give humans any excuses for killing each other. We are supposed to be better than that.
The advantage of running is that you can reach your step target quicker, not that I really worry about that number. I seem to be improving a bit lately in my running performance, so I will keep up the training.
Hope you are well.
I doing really fine, thank you.
Unless you are doing sprint running, walking and running is (at least what I have been told) pretty similar, and as I always walked in a rather high tempo, about 6 km/h it is not far from actual jogging. This year I haven't been biking and swimming as much, as I just had the inclination to walk - now that I can. But biking and swimming gets my pulse up a bit more, so I will be getting back to that soon.
I do some intervals on some of my runs, but I'm getting my pulse up anyway. I'd like to cycle more, but I have to find the time and the weather is turning now anyway.
parkrun are trying to encourage more people to take part even if they just want to walk. Just getting out of the house is the first step, that can be the hardest.
Right now I am quite tired from what I do :) but I expand it all the time so that is predicable. And yes getting out seems to be the important part. To me it never was that hard. Walking and bicycling always was part of my work process. I think when I am outside.
You're smashing your training at the moment and getting stronger every day.

I imagine that foxes are messy eaters so I'm sure it was quite the scene.
I have blueberries in my oatmeal almost everyday. They're frozen but still quite good. They add that extra something I'd say haha
Nice job on your run. Our alarm went off this morning and we were going to skip our workout again, but my wife said "no we probably shouldn't", so we got up. I've been trying to not eat as much cereal for breakfast. It doesn't fill me up and give me the energy I need to get through the morning. Instead I have been making fruit smoothies with almond milk, strawberries, bananas, cut oats, protein powder, and peanut butter powder. They definitely keep me full and energized longer.
I like the idea of smoothies, but never get around to making them. I enjoy my cereal though. It seems to keep me going. I just need to get up when the alarm goes off and not be checking Hive first :)
Haha, yeah, I usually leave Hive for the office or late at night before bed!
Good job in your exercise sir!

I was expecting some historical story about a battle with Vikings or Normans or something aha. Yeah, it's getting cold in the morning. I'm having to turn the heating on for an hour to warm up the place now :/
No big battles there that I know of, but there is some interesting history.
That heat is getting more precious. I hope your place stays warm.
