Lunch Run: Stepping up
steevc just finished a 4.95km run, that lasted for 33 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 332.0 calories.
Description from Strava:
This was another lunchtime run when I was at the office. A while back I used to do some workouts I had programmed into my Garmin watch, but I had not done any of those in a while. Today I did one which has repititions of running for 30, 20, 10 seconds at increasing pace with a couple of minutes recovery after five lots. I did find this pretty hard, especially as some were uphill.
I walked on some of the recovery periods to get my breath back, but I think I used to be able to do the whole workout without that. I have lost a bit of fitness lately and I want to recover it.
You may see that I ran in a circle for a while. That was over near the swimming pool where there are some outdoor exercise machines. I stopped the watch for a while as I did some reps on those to give my arms and abs a workout. Then I was off again for some more sprints. I did not quite finish the whole workout as I needed to be back for a meeting. I was just in time after a quick shower, but then the meeting was postponed anyway.
It is easy to get used to just running at an easy pace, but workouts like this push you to try harder and I really felt like I had done something afterwards. My office is on the second floor, so I get a fair bit of exercise anyway.
Run free!

"I am the shortcut to runner's high" - Nice one. haha. I'm sure there are T-Shirts that say that.
Well a shoe has more chance of achieving it. They are nice shoes, but they were expensive.

.You run fast, @steevc! Have you always been running, I mean when you were younger until now? The fastest I could run was around 6m/km but with all the injuries every now and then, had to stop and go back to base one. 😔
I wasn't into sports when I was young and only started running in my 40s. I've done a lot since then. I've had to work for that speed.

I thought my best running streak was in 2019 and 2020. Not sure what happened I move to my new house but things have been different for me. Need to get back to a streak. Glad that you are continuing with the streak. That's what matters.

I think the older you get the harder it is going to be to recover that fitness. That is what I have found anyway. I'm pretty much just happy that I can keep doing any small amount of activity. That is better than doing nothing!
Almost 5kms in 33 mins. That's pretty decent man!! You will get there again. Here's to feeling like a little running machine! !PIZZA
This was a real mix of pace from walking to flat out sprints. I think that can do me more good than just running at a steady pace. I hope so anyway.

.Definitely good for speed training and overall endurance! Abd best for fat burn. Have to mix it up and challenge yourself. Otherwise, you never get anywhere. I generally run like this on the treadmill. But to a lesser extent. Increase my speed by 0.1 every 100 steps till I can't keep up anymore, then I go back down and do it again. keeps me motivated while i run on the spot lol
