Morning Run: parkrun #121.Lapped!
steevc just finished a 4.99km run, that lasted for 28 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 340.0 calories.
Description from Strava:
Last week I was timekeeping at parkrun, but today I was running again. It was looking like a nice morning with a little cloud cover to cool things down. My other half and I walked up there together. She has done a lot less events than I have.
There were a lot of folk at the start, but some regulars were missing. Not everyone can be there every week. When we set off I tried to restrain myself from going too quickly as that just tires me out.
The course was in good shape. I just kept going, but it was hard work. I overtook a couple of people, but I just have to focus on what I am doing rather than worry about my position. As I came up to the finish to start the last lap a guy came zooming past and I knew he was already done. I caught the tail walkers a little later than usual, but then they were jogging to catch up the last participant. There was a lady striding along with a leg brace, which shows real determination.
I finished a little quicker than my last run, but still a little slower than my best this year. I have more work to do to improve on that.
A guy from work was there and it turned out that the lady with the brace was his partner. My other half did okay, but she is still just getting into these runs.
On the walk back we were chatting to a couple from Leeds who are staying locally and did the run.
Since then we have been out to do the food shop. We also went to a garden supplies place to check out some paving for our garden re-vamp. They sell all sorts of fountains and other ornaments. They have an amazing array of animal sculptures in metal and wood. I am not sure we will be getting one, but the dinosaur is cool.
It was a raining a little when we were there, but is due get much warmer tomorrow. We have work to do in the garden, but I may fit in a swim.
Run free.

I think that was actually a llama, but they had some horses as well as meercats, gorilla, ostrich, hippo and more. Some of the big ones are on show by the main road, so it's quite a sight.
Ah, okay, I looked too quickly. Live meerkats, gorillas, hippos we have here a plenty, and I am amazed at the roadside exhibitions, as we also have them here. Crafted mainly by Zimbabweans. Maybe you also have them over there.
