steevc just finished a 5.37km run, that lasted for 35 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 434.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
It is a nice morning and I set out to do some intervals on the uphill stretch to Fairfield. This is a workout I have done lots of times over several years. It happens to be the steepest hill that is close to home.

I did my usual five sprints. The times were similar to last week, but I did not crack 5 min/km today. I was conscious of moving my feet a bit quicker, but I am sure my running form could be better. On one pass I tried to kick my heels up a bit more. If you watch the really quick runners they almost kick their behinds when they run, but I just do not lift my feet that much. This is something I need to look into more.

I needed a breather after each sprint and so walked some of the way back down. I saw some other runners passing that way and they may wonder what I was doing, but we each do our own routines.

I took it easy on the way home, so the average pace is nothing special. I hope to be doing parkrun on Saturday and will see how that goes. It is my benchmark of progress and I want to see my times come down a bit.

I got booked to go to Hivefest in Split last night. I am looking forward to that and will take my running kit. There does not seem to be a parkrun there, but I am sure I will find somewhere to explore.

Run free!

I love this statement right here, doing what your body can accommodate is better than doing what something because others are doing it. Cheers.

I don't really feel I have to impress anyone, but you are quite exposed if out there running. I respect anyone who is out there trying to stay in shape.

Burned 434 calories in just 35 minutes, that's a lot and I'm amazed

Why amazed? That is what running does. The calories will be an estimate anyway.

I thought the faster you ran, the more calories you burned

Well I ran slow at times too. The calories will depend on lots of factors. It's not that important a number to me.

It’s good that you were not trying to be like other runners
You took your time to catch your breathe
Nice one!

Nice job on your run. I was back on the treadmill this morning after taking the day off on Tuesday. It was hard at first, but the ache in my legs went away after a bit. We have some pretty amazing weather lined up for the next ten days, so I hope to get outside a bit more.

My understanding is that high back kicks rely more on passive energy transfer rather than active muscular power. That said, working on the flexibility of your hip flexors can make it easier for your legs to have a higher back kick at higher speeds.
