Morning Run: Brisk

steevc just finished a 6.9km run, that lasted for 42 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 498.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
I was at The White Horse for our fortnightly session last night. We had ten performers plus a couple of guys who just happened to be there and who may play next time. This meant less chances to play, but it was still fun. I tried a couple of Queen songs I have not done before, but they need some work.

This morning was cool again with some frost on the cars. I did my usual loop and soon warmed up. It was fairly quiet out there and I am not sure I saw any other runners. I am currently mainly trying to just maintain my fitness, but am doing some extra exercises to try and improve my hip issue (gluteal tendinopathy). I need to strengthen the affected muscles. It was not too bad on the run this time.

I do like that it is lighter in the mornings now. I was just reading about how people can be larks (early risers) or owls (stay up late). I think I am the former as I do not sleep in even when I do not need to be up early. Daylight helps to synchronise our body clocks, but just being outside is good for us generally. I have started taking multivitamins recently on the advice of a medical friend. We older folk need to look after ourselves. I had been taking some vitamin D anyway as we need sunlight to make that and that is lacking in winter.

I felt fairly good about this run. I have about three weeks until my 10k in London, but should be ready for that.

Podcast listening today was Radiolab about the solar system and a couple of drumming shows.

Have a great day.

Run free and get on Hive ;)

Nice job on your run. I hope to be getting some of those in myself before too long. They probably won't last very long, but I have to start somewhere. I will have to look into the Strava app.

I think logging activities can be an incentive to keep going. I'd like to hear more about what features your treadmill offers.

Oddly enough, I'd love to learn more about it too! I haven't even started to dig into it. As I said, I think it is going to be a fight sharing it with my wife some mornings!

I wish I could get into running, still just a rambler...maybe one day.

Rambling is good too. Running is my main exercise and it works for me, but I know it's not for everyone.

Multivitamins are very good for us. Not just for the old people now but for everyone. I’m glad you’re working well on your health. That’s really good to know

I think its something that changes as we age, I use to be an owl but my body just cant handle it anymore, it was obvious that after been up so late I was sleeping for a good amount of hours in the morning so waking up early was not an option, now days when Im getting closer to 40s its the opposite although during the day I still feel full of energy, exerciser does help, when I was young I always ask myself why I keep waking up late and it was stupid but the answer, go to bed early and you will be more productive 🤦‍♂️

With my last job I needed to be up at 6am to avoid the traffic to work. I can get up later now, but even on days off I am likely to be up by 8. I am not really into staying up late. As I run at weekends I like to get that done before breakfast. We are all different.

Vitamin D is a must with the lack of sun there. Good job on the run. I'm a walker myself, I wore out too many joints between the Army and athletics when I was younger. I hear you on the part about getting older. Good luck preparing for that 10K in London!
