Yesterday I was helping out at parkrun where it was a bit cold. The ground was frozen and so were the lakes, but we had 100 finishers. Since then we have had Storm Isha hitting the country. It is only hitting here this afternoon, but it may have helped things warm up and it was quite nice for my run this morning.
I was looking to do around 10km to prepare myself for the event next month and opted for something other than my usual Sunday loop. I ran up past the parkrun course heading for Langford. That is along some tracks that can get muddy, but they were not too bad. It had all thawed out, but was not that wet. There has been some work done up by the lakes and since I was last there some new trees have been planted. There is also a new track to a farm that I pass where I stopped to take the photo.
Once I get to Langford I can take tracks across the fields to Clifton, but I opted for the more direct route by the road through Henlow. There is not too much traffic along there, so it was not too noisy.
I saw a few other runners out there including some couples and one group of four. I did not know any of them.
Heading back towards the campsite I took a side path through the trees were it was a little muddy and slippery, but that was the worst I encountered. Then I headed straight home having hit my target distance. The time was nothing special, but I aim to improve on that.
I was mostly listening to The Rest is Politics and Cryptomaniacs.
Since then we have been out shopping in Stevenage. There are some nice new shops on the Roaring Meg area. Had a coffee in the new M&S that has moved to having big screens to do your order before sitting down as they do in some fast food places.
I just have a little job to do on the house electrics today. I put in a new light in the study, but now the relay has died on the controller for the kitchen lights. There is always something to do.
I hope your weekend was good. Run free!
