Morning Run: Happy New Year
steevc just finished a 6.96km run, that lasted for 45 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 538.0 calories.
Description from Strava:
This is my first run in over two weeks. The last one was just as I was coming down with COVID and it is taking me a while to recover from that. I am still bunged up, but maybe I have a cold as well. I also have a few aches, but I decided it was time to get out again.
It was quite dark out there, but not too cold. We had another storm over the weekend, so there is a lot of tree debris about. A big branch broke off our plum tree, but did no damage. I headed towards Fairfield for my usual loop. I had to keep an eye on the path as it was so dark, especially up West Drive where there are not many lights.
The run was not too bad, but then it was relatively slow. The photo shows the Moon and a large puddle on the path. It was not very muddy generally, but some parts were potentially slippery. At least it got lighter as I went on, so coming back down the hill was easier.
I met a lady from parkrun who was out for a walk and had a chat with her. The local parkrun is cancelled this week as the site is flooded. I had been intending to volunteer, but I may go for a run elsewhere just to get out.
I fed the chickens when I got back. It is really muddy in their run and I may put some paving in there so I can get to their feeder. The rats keep tunnelling in and crapping everywhere, but I think the food is out of their reach. We have had a couple of eggs this week after a long time of none. The hens are getting older and would not lay as much in winter anyway.
I do not feel too bad after the run. I will start the year with my usual intentions of doing more exercise, but we shall see how things go.
Run free. Perhaps 2024 will be the year you join Hive as an alternative to the corporate social platforms. Give me a shout if you are interested.

I didn't really want to, but I worked out on the first two days of the year. It was nice not having to get up at 4:00 AM to do it! We took yesterday off, but then we were back at it today. I'm not sure what we are going to do about sharing the treadmill if we end up buying one.
I think a lot of people start the year really keen. Keeping it up is hard. My working from home days are handy for morning runs. The weather is quite mild really, so I should be okay outside.
We are finally in below freezing here for the next couple of months. People do it, but I wouldn't want to!
Happy new year dear friend
Dang, you never think of rats as tunnelers. Clever wee gits. Happy new year!
Oh, they are aces at it. Some managed to come through the concrete floor of our shed! They can climb too. We've disposed of a few, but they breed like the proverbial rodents.
I’m glad that you gradually recuperating
Just make sure you are very healthy before you begin to run everyday
I never run every day.
I admire your consistency in keeping to running to stay fit
A slightly belated Happy New Year to you and your family :-)
Any goals targets in mind? Could be in Running or other activities
I would like to run more and at least do another half. I also want to progress my drumming and do some recording this year.

It's not too bad thanks. A few issues with the roads and trains, but I don't need to go anywhere.
As an Ex-pat, I must admit I don't miss the motherland, but I listen to BBC Radio 2 every day.
