LeBron James The Last Remaining SuperStar
On Sunday morning in my country's time, LeBron James won two more trophies: the NBA Cup and the NBA Cup MVP award at the age of 38. He showed everyone what a champion, superstar, and all-time great player he is.
I am not someone who usually watches and keeps an eye on professional sports. You know, in Europe and especially in my country, football (soccer) is the sport that the vast majority of people watch. However, for me, it's just boring, especially the Greek League, where more often than not, matches end with fans fighting and sometimes even dying, as happened the other day and in the summer.
But the NBA has a special place in my heart. I always read my articles, watch my highlights, and when possible, because of the time difference, watch games. My first experience was back in the '90s with none other than Michael Jordan, the man responsible for making the NBA the most-watched league in the rest of the world, not just in the US, and making the NBA relevant again. However, LeBron is my all-time favorite. From the moment he stepped on the court, you knew that this man would dominate the game and become the greatest player of all time. But what no one could ever imagine is that after 21 seasons and at the age of 38, he would still be one of the top five players in the league and playing like an MVP. If you kept an eye on the in-season tournament and the level of urgency that LeBron had, winning one more cup like it was an NBA final, you know what I mean.
So, don't take that kind of play for granted. Sooner rather than later, LeBron will go into retirement, and the NBA has no one to truly fill his void. The years that LeBron and Kobe played were the golden age of the NBA, and with no one taking up the mantle of a true superstar, the golden age is ending.
