Hivechess Tournament Season 19 Round 1: @fcastro177 was the winner!

Dear chess fans,

yesterday the first round of season 19 started with a 5+0 arena. For the rules please refer to the announcement post. 23 players, with an average rating of 1640, were participating. Welcome back @franciscomarval to Hivechess after such a long break!

@fcastro177 was the winner - by a hairs breadth, @lucianosky (Pavarotty) was runner-up with equal points and the third place went to @dhilan04 ! Congratulations to All!

I had a terrible start into this season. Despite I could win against @dhilan04 and also @fcastro177 (in a most bizarre game), in the very last game I rushed too much and was mated by @darruiz. But this season goes over 12 rounds, so plenty of time to improve!

Yesterday the semifinalss of the 2024 Speed Chess Championship 2024 were played!

Not only a chess-wise interesting event, but also due to the clash between Magnus Carlsen and Hans Niemann! The day before Hans Niemann had given IM Levy Rozman ("Gotham Chess") an interview which was disturbing and entertaining at the same time. You have to watch for yourself:

At the end Magnus could win clearly against Hans Niemann. But in the other match, Alireza Firouzja could succeed very convincingly against the speed chess legend Hikaru Nakamura who had not the slightest chance against the youngster.

On Sunday the final will for sure be very exciting!

Hey, @stayoutoftherz, how come I am in front of @masterswatch? He had a point more and was in front of me at the final standings.

I don't know how many times the host @stayoutoftherz of this tournament has beaten me. I think this is my 2nd win plus a draw. My Chess master used to say, you learn more from every Game Lost than from 100 won. It is wonderful how Chess teaches us discipline, humility and to recognize our potential and weaknesses. Let's keep growing together and improving our game.
