Hivechess Tournament Season 14 Round 6: A big surprise for the quarter finals!

Dear chess fans,

in the sixth round of S14 we had a 6+1 arena tournament with 17 players again. 2 more players (emprendemesta, @johannfrare) did not register in time and weren´t counted!

In a weaker field (players like @sawko, @eniolw, @vjap55 or @samostically were missing) @maestroask (Odnoobraz_bcm) had as expected a perfect score against his opponents who had an average rating score of 1831 (so 775 rating points difference!) and could gain an easy win. @rosmarly was runner-up (I think her best result in Hivechess so far! Well done!), closely followed by @lucianosky (Pavarotty), ex aequo in points. Behind them were @fcastro177 as fourth and @emic as fivth. Congratulations!

According to the rules, after this round it is decided who will be the Top8 proceeding to the knockout stage! For this I had to substract the worst result from each player ("strike" at the right border of the table) and - big surprise - the following 8 players are the ones:

@lighteye as 7th and @stranger27 as 8th could last minute overtake the much more favored @sawko, thanks to the lower point reduction and due to more participations. Congratulations to both! The race for place 2 was extremly close, with @rosmarly catching up in this round due to her excellent 2nd place, but just the slightly lower average performance prevented her from overtaking me.

For all others, these are the standings (with the strike results added back, they will count only after round 9 again). Just as a reminder, the winner (ranked 9 in the table) will get a seat in the quarterfinals of the next season!

Well, I am pretty sure it is correct.
The 3 next ranked had all only 3 rounds played and so many misses make a lot in sum.

I am also surprised that I made it into the final 8, I was not expecting that this season was so much less visited by the stronger players than the previous ones. It was pure chance, as mentioned, @rosmarly could have easily be second, just by a hairs width.

I wish I could say something meaningful of the chess posts, and even though I do fancy playing a round of chess every now and then I can't really speak of the game like I really know anything.

It jumped already a little bit. Good timing with BTC. Hopefully it will be listed on an exchange soon, and on Coingecko too. The uniswap swaps have quite some fees.

Yeah, it jumped after CMC listing. But if someone invested in project only because it has been listed on CMC, then he will sell as fast as he bought. Therefore, I expect price to decrease soon, especially if CEX listing will not come in 2-3 weeks.

True, but currently the momentum looks quite good, with heavy upside volume on BTC. Do they have a roadmap of when the next steps happen? E.g. I as EU member, can´t yet participate as "data hero" even if I wanted.
By the way, you could write an article about the company, to let the Leofinance community know about it! We could write it also together, in peakd you can share drafts - quite a cool feature.

It is very cool idea! I have never written article on Hive with anyone else (although I someone used option of sharing reward with someone).
That weekend I need to perform some data science exercise for recruitation for other job, so maybe we will start next week.

The bracketing in KO stages is always like this, as an incentive to get top places. Just see how it is done in the champions chess tour. There it is even no.1 one against no.8 in the quarter final.
