Hivechess Tournament S12 Round 2: @eniolw was dominating

(Edited)

Dear chess fans,

the second round of S12 was played yesterday with a 5+0 Swiss Tournament. It was a record-breaking one, as no less than 36 players had participated (actually 43 including the ones who didn´t play enough games (i.e. three) to be counted). No less than 18 players were completely new (to me), and only from one I have a Hive username so far (welcome @mypathtofire, and all the others) - for sure not an ideal situation. On the other hand, a large number of points could be distributed, so for the ones who missed out this round (e.g. @samostically) it will be hard to fight their way back to the top places. How is this massive interest to be explained? Because @shrazi had put the announcement on Listnerds? If one needs a proof that this can have quite an impact, than here is it!

It was the day of @eniolw, who won undefeated with 7 out of 7 despite the strong competition and with a phenomenal performance of 2579! Second was @sawko with 6/7 (only defeated by @eniolw) followed by @franu (Tz995) and @jaki01 as third/fourth with each 5 out of 7 points. Also @rosmarly as 5th and leading the group of players with 4,5/7 had a great tournament! Congratulations to All!

The rules you can look up in the S12 announcement post.

After 2 rounds, we see a close head-to-head race between multifold-champion @sawko and his eternal rival @eniolw whereby @eniolw has for now the upper hand thanks to the higher average performance.

See you all next week - and keep practicing!

The Norwaychess 2022 was won by Magnus Carlsen again (like the last 3 iterations), with one point ahead of Mamedyarov. What a performance and consistency!

I was given a job. I was part of the appeal committee in an u-20 chess tournament organised here. It took my time, slept off immediately I got home.

It felt bad I couldn't participate lol.... Yeah I will keep playing despite the fact that I can't catch up.

Congratulations to the winners! Great job again @stayoutoftherz!

My excuse for not winning was that the moves were not appearing on the ceiling like in the Queens Gambit.

Congrats to @eniolw . Thanks to @stayoutoftherz for organising!

@stayoutoftherz Chess is a very interesting and educational game, when I was young in college it was my favorite distraction, my mind became very clear. I wish you success in the planned chess tournaments. Greetings from Venezuela
