Hivechess Season 18 Final Results: @ram9612, @masterswatch, @stayoutoftherz and @lucianosky are the Champions
Dear chess fans,
yesterday the final round 10 of S18 was played. Only 17 players had participated in a 4+2 "marathon" (90 min.). Maybe I should have postponed it, as at the same time there was the soccer match Netherlands vs. France! Welcome to Hivechess, @spartano!
This time finally @eniolw bagged his first win this season with a perfect win rate of 100% (lacking any opponent of his level). Runner-up was @masterswatch who played surprisingly strong despite going full berserk and despite streaming the event (check it out here)! In a relatively close fight he could succeed against @rosmarly who ended up as third.
Congratulations to All!

@odic3o1 was moved from tournament 3 to tournament 2 based on his average rating
In tournament 1 @ram9612 - thanks to a strong performance in the last 2 rounds - overtook @vasigo and grabbed the top position. No changes in the podium places of the other tournaments. In no. 4 @eniolw with his win could come very close to @lucianosky, but at the end just 3 points were missing.
For the rules please refer to the announcement post.
All the results of this season are listed here (the different tiers are labelled with different colors):
Congratulations to the new champions and all participants!
Special price
The price of 5 Hive for the highest average performance in relation to the own rating goes to: @lighteye , with a differences of 183,1 rating points, ahead of @darruiz! Congratulations!
In addition, the 500 LEO sponsored by @leofinance will be again distributed to the most active players, as on Inleo engagement counts!
Season stats
In season 18 in total 42 players were participating (2 players less than in S17). The average participation was with 19,5 players per round similar than in the previous 2 seasons (19,7 and 19,5), but far lower than e.g. in S15 (27,2). So it seems that the concept of breaking it down to several tournaments of different skill levels did NOT increase the engagement.
The number of players who participated regularly was disappointingly low (e.g. 45,2% of players played only one or two rounds, that was even more than in last season (43,2%)). Since the minimum participation threshold was this season 6 rounds instead of 5, only 17 players (=40%) qualify for prices!
The prizepool from the post rewards will be about 600 Hive (last season it was 616 Hive)! Since Hive is so undervalued currently, I decided to use the opportunity and sell some HBD saved in the @chesspricepool account and add 150 Hive from there to beef it up! Details will be shared when the new season will be announced.
As always, all prizes will be transferred in app. one week, after the payout of this post (and any other posts using @badge-646464 as beneficiary). This time it will be directly staked to your accounts (selling Hive at these levels makes anyway no sense).
Thank you all for your participation & engagement (and the upvotes)!
There will be now a break during the summer, so no promises when S19 will start, most likely in Sept.
In between we will have as usual some Hivechess fun tournaments, so stay tuned and keep practicing!
Let me know in the comments, if you would like to go back to a single tournament in the next season or rather keep the different rating groups (but probably with less groups)!
Thank you very much, @stayoutoftherz, and congratulations to all the group winners!
Greetings. I congratulate you for your great work in organizing the tournament. I returned to participate after being inactive. I had a lot of fun as well as sharing with other Hive users. Thanks to this new season I have proposed to participate more actively in your tournaments, so much that I returned to my publications dedicated to chess weekly and I am very excited that I have proposed to study chess to increase my level of play.
For 10 Thursdays I made a publication to encourage the Spanish community to participate but I think it was not for me the expected results. I am sure there are more Spanish speaking players who can participate. I will not desist to continue inviting to increase the number of participants.
I like the idea of continuing to divide the rating groups by Elo difference.
Many thanks for your feedback!
Wow, I see some of my friends on this list and I know how much they talk about chess tournament
This is a great compilation I must say, and your plans for the upcoming season looks great too.
Congratulations to the winners 🏆
Congratulations!

Upvoted 👌 (Mana: 0/54) Liquid rewards.
Ohh yeah full berserk second place :D
Thank you so much for the 10 weeks. If it weren't 10 weeks and only like a one-week tourney I would've played less than 9 times in 10 weeks. I tried to spread the word and have some fun with streaming, didn't see much though...because the quality of the videos just has to become better if I want people who actually click on the video to have a sudden urge to join the tourney.
The tournament is there, the rewards are there. The only problem is really getting more players in that are available on a Friday evening to play for 60mins (not a long time yet I guess most people will choose to go to the city or watch a movie).
I had a lot of fun, here is a !BEER Thank you stay, and congrats everybody!
Congratulations to the winners @ram9612 @masterswatch @stayoutoftherz and @lucianosky
It was very good season. A lot of fun chess through 10 rounds.
to finish 6th overall in this strong field was quite successful
This format is good - at least for me. Lets say more competitive.
@stayoutoftherz compliments on organization ( formats for everyones taste )
Many thanks!
