Solans won ERC Rally Islas Canarias 2022
Hi, friends!
What a rally it was this weekend. As I predicted, Nil Solans won the rally and overnight leader Luis Monzon had a puncture and retired from the rally instead of changing a wheel and continuing the rally.
Yeah rallying can be very cruel sometimes and this time it really kicked hard 56 year old Monzon who did his best to beat the younger competitors - ex-Junior WRC champion Nil Solans and ex-Junior ERC champion Efren Llarena.
What I learned from my career us that it is very important to finish the rallies even when you feel like you hate the whole world because of the some mistake you did or some mechanical problem.
This time it happened to Luis Monzon and that's it. Nil Solans won in the rented Volkswagen Polo R5 without a single mile of testing. That's how good is this driver.
There was a big fight bet3ween Efren Llarena and Yoann Bonato for the 2nd place. They both finished on the exactly same time but Llarena took 2nd place because Bonato didn't score a single special stage win during the weekend.
Enrique Cruz finished 4th in his Ford Fiesta Rally2 and Simone Campedelli finished 5th to conclude the best finishers of the European Rally Championship weekend.
