Rovanpera jr fastest at shakedown of WRC Safari Rally Kenya 2023
Hi, friends!
Shakedown special stage doesn't mean a lot but it is good to pass through it on competitive speed just to see if everything works good on the car, suspension settings, tires ets.
Today we saw a propshaft problem at Esapekka Lappi's Hyundai i20 Rally1 car which forced him to stop from driving a shakedown but because rally itself starts tomorrow, they have enough time to try to fix the problem.
There was another works car problem - Esapekka Lappi rolloed his Toyota Yaris Rally1 car which is kinda good if they can repair the car, of course, because he will drive more clever then on the shakedown. OK, he was always very impressive on Safari but every year brings more and more rutted and destroyed roads so one mistake means roll of the car.
So current World Rally champion Kalle Rovanpera was fastest in his Toyota Yaris Rally1 in front of M-Sport Ford's Ott Tanak (Ford Puma Rally1) and Rovanpera's team-mate Seb Ogier.
Rally itself starts tomorrow with the super special stage (just like at Sardinia) but Friday will bring first full day of special stages.
Let the best win - as always... :)
