Rally documentary video of the day - Road to WRC (American driver Sean Johnston)
Hi, friends!
I know that lots of you guys here are Americans and I also know that World Rally Championship isn't that popular in USA these days but I would like you to know that there is a driver from United States with name Sean Johnston who's trying hard to enter to the top of the sport through WRC2 category.
He was eWRC champion and there is a difference of driving on the simulator and driving in the real rally car. The good thing is that Johnston has a guts to drive with heavy foot and maybe that is the reason he is crashing so much.
Almost every rally he crashes out and also very nasty. At one moment in Greece he say after day one that this was their firs day one finished after February. I thought that I retire too often in some seasons but this is even more hard core.
But this guy has the speed and he needs so much rallies. He started through European Rally Championship and the quality there isn't on the same level as in the World Rally Championship.
In ERC he drove Peugeot 208 R2 car and that is quite good car for the starter. After a few seasons he started with R5 car but the good thing is that he stayed with the same team - Sainteloc Racing which are known as a Citroen satellite team. So yeah, he drives Citroen C3 Rally2 car and now I must be very mild about him because we are both with the Citroen rally brand in the world of rallying. He drives C3 Rally 2 and I drive C2 R2 Max.
Yeah, he could progress if he can stay in the sport for three or four seasons just to build the speed, experience and confidence. That's all that he needs because there is some talent and commitment at his side, that's for sure.
If he is ready to crash s heavily as you can see from the videos, then he has a guts to try even harder. The key thing is the confidence. Will he be confident enough after some critics because of the crashes?! I wouldn't mind what they say and write at all if he wants to progress.
The other good thing is that he kept the same co-driver Alexander Khurani through the years of development as a driver and what is truth that some co-driver with much more experience would help him to build the speed much quicker then the co-driver who doesn't have the experience from the top of the sport.
This videos are really enjoyable so watch them and learn about American who wants to succeed in the world of rallying.
