Paddon to enter WRC Estonia, Finland and New Zealand with WRC2 machinery
Hi, friends!
WRC Rally Argentina winner from the past Hayden Paddon will enter this year's Rally Estonia and Rally Finland, both super fast gravel events with his favorite brand of Hyundai, the same one which gave him a car for his only win six years ago.
To be honest, I have never been a fan of New Zealander but this means nothing. Guy is exceptionally quick, no doubt about that. He had some troubles in his private life with his girlfriend who left him for some engineer in his ex-team and that probably destroyed his confidence at that time.
You know how they say: if you don't have a confidence, you are nowhere. And that's really a truth. He was also involved in a fatal accident at Monte Carlo Rallye 2017 when Spanish photographer was killed and that was probably too much for him.
But he wants to be back and that is the most important thing for him, I guess. He will partner with his own co-driver John Kennard and the Hyundai New Zealand importer. They formed a team which will run Hyundai i20 Rally2 car but we still don't know if they will rent the car from some of the European teams or they will run it on their own.
They have the knowledge but if they have a budget ready to compete, maybe it is better then he concentrate on a drive then on running a team which is not that easy (I can see this by myself).
His plans are reserved for three event program of this year's WRC2 championship - Estonia, Finland and New Zealand - before he will return in 2023 for a full WRC2 program of seven events.
Kiwi is quick but his last WRC event was in 2019 and he could have some rust to take off before having his old speed in himself again.
Let the best win - as always...
