Onboard rally video of the day - Kalle Rovanperä with Škoda Fabia R5 at Sachsen-Rallye 2018

Hi, friends!

Current World Rally champion Kalle Rovanpera started with rallying at the age of eight which means that he was already driving rally cars when his friends with that age was playing with the plastic cars somewhere in the neighborhood. His father Hari Rovanpera used to be a works Peugeot, Mitsubish and Seat driver with plenty of experience. Who better to be a mentor to the youngster then his dad who also has one win from WRC Rally Sweden 2001.

My opinion is that Kalle's stint with Škoda was his best ever move because he was raised as a rally driver with the works team which also means lots of testing miles and that's the very important training for any driver.

So the year is 2018 and Kalle had a very good season in WRC2 category with Škoda which ended with 3rd place in the general classification at the end of that season. In the middle of that season there was WRC Rally Germany and because Kalle is Scandinavian and a gravel specialist (as any Scandinavian is), he needed some tarmac practice and Škoda decided to send him to the local German rally called Sachsen Rallye.

He won that event with Škoda's satellite team TGS Worldwide (ownership of ex-works driver Toni Gardemeister) which was a great boost for the youngster. He was just 18 at that time.

Here we have an onboard from that rally. Please enjoy and learn from the current World Rally champion from his early phase... :
