Kajtanowicz couldn't care less what Mikkelsen thinks about his WRC2 championship chances
Hi, friends!
I met Polish driver Kajetan Kajetanowicz this year in March when we were driving the same rally. We talked a little bit and I can only say that he is a great guy.
But that Polish guy who came from nowhere and without a budget won three European Rally Championship titles and he is now in the great position to win the WRC2 championship as well because his main rival Andreas Mikkelsen has two DNF's (did not finishes) because of the technical problems with his Škoda Fabia Rally2 and Kajetanowicz (or Kajto as they call him in Poland) collect points at every rally he is entered for.
Kajto is also a Škoda driver but he is a privateer and on the other hand, Mikkelsen is Škoda's work's driver. That means something because he has a full factory support with testing etc.
Privateers don't have the same, they have to pay for everything - testing, rent of the rally cars, recce cars, gravel crews etc. It's just not the same.
WRC2 competitors can enter seven events during the season and the best six will be counted for points. And that's where the problem lies. Mikkelsen already has two DNF's plus one bad result from Greece and Kajto could easily snatch the championship with his strategic fight.
Yeah, he avoids direct fight on the rallies against Mikkelsen but he can choose the rallies he wants and if he scores good at New Zealand, Catlunya - Spain and in Japan, the title could easily be his.
Let the best win - as always...
