Blast from the past - WRC Jordan Rally 2008

For the rally drivers the most stupid thing to do is to retire on the road section in a road accident with another rally car. That's what happened to Seb Loeb on Jordan Rally 2008 When he had a frontal accident with another Citroen's driver - Conrad Rautenbach. I guess that they were both pissed off at each other bit you can't do anything about that because their rally was over. I have to remind you that Seb Loeb won all of his nine WRC titles with the Citroen.
Loeb's retirement have a chance to some other drivers to fight for the win because Loeb was so dominant at that time. Mikko Hirvonen was the fastest driver of that season in direct fight with Loeb. Hirvonen's Ford Focus WRC was very strong car for that time but we must say that oeb was just better driver then Hirvonen. In the end, the math is clear - Loeb won nine WRC titles while Hirvonen never won the championship but he has 15 WRC win which means a lot in rallying.
Season 2008 was the last season for the Subaru works team and I must say that i was one of the toughest season because they just couldn't find the speed from their Impreza WRC. They started the season with an old S12b model and later in the season they switched to the S14 model which also couldn't deliver them wins.
Their top driver and their last World Rally champion Petter Solberg was trying but the handling of the car was just not good enough to fight against Citroen and Ford. Solberg rolled and retired while their 2nd driver Chris Atkinson finished 3rd and that was the boost for them to work even harder towards the end of season.
Mikko Hirvonen won in the end for Ford in front of Citroen's 2nd driver Spaniard Dani Sordo who is still active in the World Rally Championship with the part time drive at Hyundai.
