American Johnston looking for WRC Safari Rally outing in 2022
Hi, friends!
Rarely we can see some American crew competing in the World Rally Championship and after Ken Block focused only on the American national rallying, there was no one for some time until these two guys came around.
I am talking about Sean Johnston and Alex Khurani who did two WRC2 seasons with Sainteloc Racing and their Citroen C3 Rally2 car. Yeah, Sainteloc Racing is Citroen's satellite team as works teams see this much cheaper to run the program through their private outfits then as themselves traveling around with all the machinery.
Johnston has really good backings and that's very important in the world of motorsport. I heard for the pair for the first time three years ago when they were competing in the European Rally Championship driving Peugeot 208 R2 rally car with the same team - Sainteloc Racing from France.
They did some good rallies but passed to the higher Rally2 class before some bigger wins came in the class where they were competing at that time.
Did you know that Sean Johnston entered into the world of rallying through the e-sports competition where he won the competition. Yeah, he did his first rally in 2018 and over the four seasons he contested 36 events which is not much knowing that he is 31.
But OK, the important thing is that he is on the right place at the right time, with top car and the top team. He only has to contest the rallies and collect experience and the knowledge.
When watching their vlog, they are not slow but it seems that they are lifting the gas pedal too much because the times are still not there. They contest six WRC2 events this season. finishing four of them and retiring on two of them.
For the next season they want more of the same but there is one event they want to contest the most - legendary Safari Rally in Kenya. With those sponsorships they won't have bigger problems, I guess...
