A. Mikkelsen tested with Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 in Portugal

Despite being absent from first two rounds of the World Rally Championship, it seems that Norwegian Andreas Mikkelsen is still Škoda Motorsport driver because they tested together on the Portuguese gravel with their latest Rally2 machinery which is a product of development with Mikkelsen as one of the test drivers.

Andreas is currently in Qatar where he prepares for the Qatar International Rally which is a round of the Middle East Rally Championship. He says that the special stages are super fast and something he didn't have too much chance to conquer in the past.

He is a super professional driver and I don't doubt about his potential of winning this smaller event compared to the WRC events. MERC is a big championship but not that big and demanding as WRC, no matter what some says.

I must admit that I am glad to see Mikkelsen back in the rally car after he failed to find Rally1 seat for another year in the row. There is not much seats available at the moment and it will be only harder to stay in the sport on the level he wants to be.

It is good that he still works with Škoda and maybe this is a sign that he will be present with their car at WRC Rally Portugal which starts at the beginning of the May.
