My Actifit Report Card and UK on Shaky Ground: August 17 2024

Hi Everyone,

A little calm has returned to chaotic UK. The riots have stopped for now, but the anger behind them remains. I believe the anger is actually growing. It is just waiting for the next trigger.

The Government has come down hard on rioters, looters, people observing riots, children who kick stuff, and people saying nasty things online. It is an interesting response. I think it is a mistake. I believe they have become too authoritarian too quickly. The people of the UK will not tolerate this approach under these circumstances.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s popularity is falling quickly for a new PM. There is a petition for his resignation; it has almost 200,000 signatures. People’s anger towards illegal migrants and unintegrated migrants has, to a certain extent, turned towards the Government. Not a great position to be in.

The Government’s next step will be interesting. Things can change very quickly. The UK Establishment have an impeccable history of coming out on top. Turning Brexit on its head is a great example of that. There are lots of things happening at the moment. The possible Monkey Pox Pandemic and wars in Ukraine and Israel. The Government can use all of these to their advantage.

Despite all that is happening, I feel reasonably optimistic. I think the chances of people standing together has increased. The UK needs change, it needs it badly. The desire for that change has never been greater. We just need to be focused on putting ourselves in a position to create meaningful change. We have a long way to go, but we could be on the verge of making meaningful progress.

My Content

I have posted twice since my previous Actifit Report and Update. It feels like a long time ago, I have been busy putting together a short series about the UK riots. There is a lot to write about. It is also a little longer, as it is for an international audience rather than just a UK one. Most of my audience are not from the UK.

Both of my posts have been results posts from the challenge series. They were for the Game Theory Challenge and the Pick-a-Door Challenge.

The Game Theory Challenge involved participants selecting boxes that contain a value. The value in the box is shared among the participants who select it. As more participants select the box, the value that each participant receives decreases as it is shared with more participants.

There are several possible winning conditions. These change in the event of ties. This challenge had several ties. This was because several participants selected the same boxes. This is very frustrating. Based on these choices, the first two participants to enter were declared joint winners.

Participants played better in the Pick-a-Door Challenge. The winner almost picked the optimum combination of doors to win the highest possible value.

The Pick-a-Door Challenge requires participants to select doors. Each door has a probability that there is a value behind it. The higher the probability, the lower value. Participants need to decide if it is worth the risk of opening doors that might have a high value behind them.

The number of participants has been steadily increasing as the challenge series progresses. I will post another result post in a couple of days.

That wraps up this week’s Actifit Report and Update. I should have around four posts coming out this week. I recommend that you check my channel/page regularly. I wish everyone a great weekend and an enjoyable week ahead.
