My Actifit Report Card and Update: August 26 2022
Hi Everyone,
I'm back with another Actifit Report and Update. The Economics 7-week challenge series is in full swing. So far, 3 challenges have closed, 1 currently open, and 1 results post and video posted. The number of participants have jumped this year. We had 9 for Challenges 1 and 2, 13 for challenge 3 and 13 and climbing for Challenge 4.
This week I posted Challenge 4 and Challenge 1 results. Challenge 4 is the Game Theory Challenge. This challenge involved selecting 5 of 9 boxes. Each box has been assigned a value. The participants who select the same boxes share the value assigned to them. For example, if 4 participants select a box valued at 20, each participant obtains a value of 5 (20/4). The win conditions are a little complicated. The participant with highest score (total obtained from the boxes) wins if not tied with another participant. If tied, the participant with lowest score wins if not tied with another participant. If not, the first two participants to enter are joint winners. There are advantages and disadvantages to entering early and late. Currently, the leading participant changes with almost every new entry.
Challenge 1: Auction was posted 2 weeks ago and yesterday I announced the results in a video. @fatherfaith continued his contest winning streak with winning bids on 4 items and the highest combined profits from those wins. Entering late gave him a huge advantage. It was a smart strategy. Next time, I will change the rules for the Challenge so as to reduce the extent of the late entry advantage.
The next Challenge is the Make Me Happy Challenge. This involves making decisions for a selected character to maximise his or her utility from a range of possible activities. The next results post will be Challenge 2 and will be posted on Friday. This will be the results for the Buying and Selling Game (Business Version). It will be presented in the same format as the contests. The results post will include the leader board for the Challenge Series.
Outside the Challenge Series
I have started on work on two other posts. I will post them between challenges. I will also do some work editing sections of the book I'm working on. I'm hoping to have it finished by the end of the year. It's more work than I anticipated. I also plan to make a few videos before the weather turns bad.
Outside of content, my week has been more or less the same. I take Mango the dog for his walks. I get the grocery shopping. I do a bit of work around the house and garden. I mowed the front lawn; it is growing slower these days.
That wraps up this week's Actifit Report and Update. If you have time, head over to the challenges. There will be at least one running for a few more weeks.
