My Actifit Report Card: August 14 2023
Since 18 B.C. the Ferie of Emperor Octavian Augustus (or in Latin Feriae Augusti or Augustales) are celebrated.
In short, even the emperor had realized that working in August, between the fatigue accumulated during the year and the suffocating heat, was not humanly possible.
And so August was the month of holidays.
Today this celebration remains on August 15th, subsequently transformed into a religious feast (Assumption in Heaven of Maria) which we Romans between Catholicism and neo-paganism transform into a great trip outside the city with an annexed anti-vegan barbecue (as if we hadn' t eaten for the whole year and we couldn't help but cook at 40 degrees in the shade).
I already feel too chubby, so I won't cook or eat too much. And while waiting for lunch, I also try to work off some excess calories by bike.

È dal 18 A.C. che si festeggiano le Ferie dell'imperatore Ottaviano Augusto (o in latino Feriae Augusti o Augustales).
Insomma, pure l'imperatore si era reso conto che lavorare in Agosto, tra la fatica accumulata durante l'anno e il caldo asfissiante, non era umanamente possibile. E così Agosto fu il mese delle Ferie.
Oggi rimane questa celebrazione il 15 di Agosto, trasformata successivamente in festa religiosa (Maria Assunta in cielo) che noi Romani fra Cattolicesimo e neo-paganesimo trasformiamo in grande gita fuoriporta con grigliata anti-vegana annessa (come se non avessimo mangiato per tutto l'anno e non potessimo fare a meno di cucinare a 40 gradi all'ombra).
Io mi sento già troppo cicciottella, quindi non cucinerò né mangerò troppo. E aspettando il pranzo, cerco anche di smaltire un po' di calorie in eccesso in bicicletta.

Ho incrociato questo tuo post mentre sono sotto l'ombrellone, non ho ancora capito se sarà ristorante (ospiti non paganti) o una specie di self-service (sempre non paganti, una volta tanto... 🤪🤪), sulla "cicciottella" avrei qualcosa da ridire, ma rimandiamo alla "next week", una buona giornata, cara, che tutto passi in maniera accettabile...

Oddio, pure il covid nuovo ti sei fatta? Io l'ho fatto due volte, ma spero di non prenderlo di nuovo, anche se purtroppo non ci si immunizza. Sono preoccupata invece per la variante che prende i gatti, avendo io un felino amatissimo.
Io Agosto lo detesto, insieme a Luglio, Giugno, Settembre. Vivrei solo in Autunno e Inverno 😅

Ps.: agosto qui è inverno: il peggior mese invernale, tra burocrazie a più non posso, malanni respiratori stagionali, la borsa che è usa crollare con particolare forza proprio in questo mese, gli alunni che non possono più far lezione e un ciclone imperversando per il paese facendogli accumulare ulteriori danni da calamità climatiche. Insomma...😖
Dove ti trovi esattamente in Brasile? Sei un'insegnante?
Nella baixada fluminense di Rio de Janeiro. Si, sono insegnante di lingue straniere. Qui ho preso una seconda laurea in letras espanhol più specializzazioni in metodologia do ensino da língua espanhola e psicopedagogia institucional (attualmente sto completando il percorso con psicopedagogia clínica, purtroppo nulla che si trovi in Italia). Siccome per l'italiano sono nativa, capita pure che me lo chiedano per l'insegnamento. Ma la lingua che mi chiedono di insegnare più spesso è l'inglese (mentre c'ero, m'era capitata pure qualche lezione di informatica, perfino a un ingegnere). A dispetto del fatto di essere l'unico paese Mercosur non ispanofono, l'insegnamento dell'inglese è il più diffuso, anche se nelle zone più disagiate, comprese le baixadas, la voglia di grattarsi le ginocchia e la pancia supera di gran lunga l'amore per lo studio:
Qui vanno forti le attività nel campo della bellezza (in una sola viuzza troverai quattro o cinque saloncini di parrucchiere più decorazione unghie e sopraccigli). Pensa che la mia parrucchiera a mezzanotte ha ancora clienti nel salone. A dispetto dei salari minimi con i quali non ci pagano nemmeno l'affitto e le bollette, i saloni di bellezza non sono mai vuoti e raramente vedi una donna sia pure abitante in un'area oltremodo disagiata senza unghie posticce e decorate e senza sopraccigli disegnati come una miliardaria. Con le unghie come mamma natura le ha fatte ci vedrai quasi solo me, dato che unghie lunghe, posticce, smaltate e disegnate sono nemiche della musica:
Non si possono suonare strumenti musicali con le unghie in queste condizioni e infatti dovresti vedere il deplorevole stato delle (mancate) conoscenze musicali da queste parti. La disciplina educazione musicale è completamente assente nelle scuole delle baixadas. La gente qui vede un violino si e no in televisione, mentre una viola non sanno nemmeno cosa sia.

Ma hai competenze da vendere! E che competenze meravigliose! Certo mi fa ridere questa cosa della beauty care 😅 io tra l'altro sono come te, uno pseudo disastro. Mi trucco solo se assolutamente necessario, le unghie le faccio da sola con le forbici quando mi rendo conto che la incolta crescita ha raggiunto dimensioni di artiglio di pantera. L'unica cosa che curavo erano i capelli ma l'anno scorso un parrucchiere li ha bruciati (completamente, nessuna possibilità di salvataggio) e quindi da un anno la mia autostima ha subito un tracollo, anche perché sono ancora mezzi corti e mezzi distrutti.
Ma perché sei in Brasile? Sei nata lì o sei emigrata?

Le unghie devo tenerle corte (ma uso l'apposito tronchesino) altrimenti non posso suonare. E le corde del violino graffierebbero lo smalto (lo dicevo: unghie lunghe e smaltate, nemiche della musica🤣). Per il viso, poichè qui non trovo le polveri minerali 100% e i classici fondotinta, primer e compagnia non li posso soffrire, compro diversi tipi di argilla (bianca, rosa e rossa) che sostituiscono cipria, blush e ombretto. Qui trovo pure la polvere di dolomita (bianchissima) che si presta come cipria base, ma è anche commestibile (una buona fonte biologica di calcio). Fuori piazza solo il modellatore trasparente la matita per sopraccigli (che però uso raramente). Il mascara non mi piace. Solo ultimamente ho dovuto scendere a compromessi comprando una cipria curativa farmaceutica. Ma come che il parrucchiere ti ha bruciato i capelli?😨 Spero non si sia fatto pagare. In ogni caso i capelli ricresceranno, non temere.
Per il vivere in Brasile: ho sposato un nativo e allora vivo qui.
