Liverpool survive 7 goal thriller with late drama!
After narrowly escaping with one point against Man City at the Etihad las weekend, Liverpool are back at Anfield today where they host Fulham.
The front three today is the front three I wanted to see in the city game. I have nothing against Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota, but the electric energy Luis Diaz brings down the left flank and the chaos Darwin Nunez brings is unmatched and disruptive things like these is what is needed to make the difference against solid nearly unbeatable teams like City.
Gravenberch starting beside McAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai is also an exciting prospect. Lots of good things about the lineup today. Big miss however will be absence of Allison in goal. Let's hope Caomin Kelleher makes the best of the run of games he is going to get here.
Start!
Liverpool have started very very brightly here. They look calm and composed in defense and piercing going forward!
Oh What a strike from Trent Alexander Arnold from the freekick! What a goal! Deservedly so, Liverpool take the lead!
And moments later, completely against the run of play, Fulham have equalized with an equally great goal!
It is good to see Liverpool haven't lost heart after the equalizer, they are going forward with a lot of conviction and purpose. But so are Fulham! I thought this week's blockbuster game was supposed to be the Man City and Tottenham game, but oh boy! This game is shaping up to be a cracker!
OH MY WORD!!! This has to be one of the goals of the season - it just has to be! Alexis McAllister, take a bow! Who would have thought he was going to try from there! My godness!
Liverpool have their lead restored, 2-1!
Liverpool really looking like their old self now, why can't we have this version of the team week in week out!
And fulham are level AGAIN! Or are they? The offside flag is up, this will be checked by the VAR but he doesn't look offside there. And the check is over, the goal stands!
2-2 at Anfield! What a game we have here!
And have Fulham scored again? The flag is up again and this time it will stay offside.
I just noticed Nunez's hair! What the fuck happened there 🤣
What a stop by the Fulham keeper to deny Salah his 200th goal! Really thought that would have been our 3rd.
2-2 at half time, what a game we have on here!
Second half starts and no change for either team and expectedly so. Why change what's working!
Oh no! Nunez hits the bar! How does he and joao felix keep hitting the post so consistently!
The second half is being as lovely as the first!
Oh man, nunez misses again! He was perfectly poised after another bit of brilliant play!
Liverpool have been utterly brilliant in the second half, they are just not finding the back of the net.
Gakpo and Joe Gomez comes on for Szoboszlai and McAllister...hmm! Interesting changes! I think Trent will slot into midfield and Gomez at Right back. Gakpo will play in the midfield, I guess? Very interesting changes. What has klopp got cooking here?
Matip is down now, and it doesn't look too good. He might not be able to continue. Konate coming on.
Liverpool just seeming to run out of gas towards the end of the game. Just 15 minutes of normal time to go. And fulham are making a late charge looking for a surprise winner! And it seems they have found it! Fulham lead 3-2 at the 80th minute! Really missing Allison here. Kelleher just does not seem ready for premier league football. Allison would have never let that go in.
Wataru Endo comes on for Gravenberch. Another change that does not make sense. We need attacking threat now. Klopp may have gotten all three substitutions wrong today. Our game lost all tempo after Szoboszlai and McAllister were taken off.
And F me upside down! Liverpool are level and who's the scorer? Wataru fucking Endo 😂 3-3!
And a minute later Liverpool are back in the lead! Trent Alexander Arnold! What a game this has been! What a strike this is!
7 minutes added on! There's still a lot of drama left in the game!
Fulham are really making a play here for another equaliser! Liverpool should just try and see this game out and not try anything silly.
And there's the final whistle! What a game, what an absolute thriller we have had!
I don't think Trent gets much credit. He is one Liverpool player whose form is pretty consistent, he is an awesome footballer, it's crazy how well he seems to have master the art of taking free kicks.
This guy future is bright, hope he continues to shine.
Yes I agree he doesn't get much credit and I think it is mostly down to the fact that he will often make defensive errors cancelling out the excellent work he does going forward. I think klopp needs to move him to midfield permamnently and play joe gomez at right back or play 3 central defenders and allow trent to up the right flank.
