Had I not been a doctor, What could I be?

What would I have become if I weren't a doctor? I have been asked this question a few times in the past and I never had a confident answer. I didn't really know, I never really thought about it.

But if I really sit down quietly and think about it, I think the answer is quite straightforward - Sports Blogger. Not a sports journalist, a sport blogger. There's a difference.

Journalism probably (I am not sure on the exact requirements) requires giving a neutral, opinion-free narrative of events - basically just report the events as is without injecting personal point of views. Well, at least that is how think Journalism is supposed to be. Just plain simple reporting of events - no extra added salt or sugar.

Strong Opinions

I however, am extremely strong opinionated! There is no way journalism would suit me. I know for a fact that I AM going to be injecting a heavy dose of my opinion when I am analyzing or writing a match summary. And as a sports blogger I'd be able to put whatever I want on my blog - it is my blog! You don't like it, don't read it!

However, I know for a fact that, it is not going to happen! I have been around the sports blogging arena on the internet for a very very long time to know for a fact that the stronger opinionated you are - the more readers you have. You will definitely have a lot of haters, but they will read your blog nonetheless and rain down hell in the comments, threaten your life and what not - But they'll read your blogs nonetheless!

All these adds up to one thing and one thing only - ENGAGEMENT!

Isn't that what we fuss about all the time on HIVE - organic engagement? Mechanics are a bit different on hive of course - but out there this is how it goes. You'll see more engagement, more impressions on blogs and articles with a strong opinion - albeit mostly a ton of hate from rival fans, and heated arguments between sets of fans. But all resulting in more impressions for the blogger.

Sarcasm

Sarcasm is another important weapon in the armory of a sports blogger! It works marvelously well to trigger fans, like you wouldn't believe! Trust me on this 😂

There is nothing more satisfying than riling up a certain fanbase with carefully crafted sarcasm! I have quite the nag for it too, Chandler Bing would be proud of my sarcasm!

Sarcasm just for the sake of being sarcastic is actually not funny at all. Neither is it effective. When it comes to sarcasm in sports you need to mix it up with strong logic and knowledge of the sport and some recent history. In some cases, old history too.

But logic and facts and knowledge is crucial. If you're going to go into a banter with the most ferocious of species to exist on the internet, you better back your claims, you better be prepared with heavy armory! Because believe you me, sports fans can get on your nerves very very quickly! I myself do that quite efficiently, intentionally sometimes. 😉 I have been part of sports banters since I was in middle school, hence I know very well exactly what triggers which fanbase and I will immaculately place them in my arguments and watch them lose their minds and their composure.

And I still do it quite regularly on twitter too these days!

I actually enjoy the banter as long as it is in good spirit and it is with someone who has at least some knowledge and logical approach to a banter. However, what gets on my nerves more than anything is someone who has no idea what they are talking about and has no logical approach! That is when I lose my sh*t and lose my composure!

Enjoying sports

But in the end what factors in the most is how much I truly enjoy sports! I love talking about it, I love writing about it, discussing it and everything that comes with it. The cherry on top is I have actually got a good eye for spotting things in a game - to understand what it actually happening, to see where it is going wrong and that comes naturally to me from watching sports and playing from a very very early age.

So yes, had I not been a doctor I could probably be a sports blogger.

Maybe I still can 😉

Fragrance reviewer....meh, not yet unfortunately 😅 It takes a lot of capital investment up front. But a part-time fragrance reviewer maybe....? 😉

That was the funniest Jeremy shit ever

The guy at first was so cool and decent, slowly with fame and time came all the craziness; yet, I don't mind the craziness though. 😂

But a part-time fragrance reviewer maybe

That's a good start, eh?

I once got trapped on the same question, if I wasnt an IT as profession what would I be? funny thing is that I think Im bad at sales, I dont like it, after 15 years as IT I basically quit the practicing the profession because I got disgusted with the local market, no days I still have a few clients but started other other sources of income, Im now basically a merchant close to be a sales man doing exactly what I didnt like at first, I still have the same passion for IT

That's a very interesting switch of profession hehe! I think unless we try something out, we won't really know whether we are good at it or whether we actually dislike it. And that seemed to be the case for you isn't it! Or do you still dislike sales? 😄

If you still have the passion for IT, I think you shouldn’t totally abandon it. Maybe do something in that line as a hobby and not look at it as a job.
