I pass this pond most days I hike……..
If you aren’t one of the “locals” you wouldn’t even know it was there!😇
“Silbertop, when we go to secret pond….Man?”🐸
Yes ……..PEPE is now a local Lol!☺️
Hiking up the “High Trail” you can just barely see glimpses of this pond……..
PEPE, having Eagle eyes, immediately spotted it Months ago!
The grassy field you see in the second and third photo, is extremely deceiving!😮
The thick grass actually camouflages a perpetual year-round wetland!
Silvertop had his “waterproof” hiking boots on, and PEPE…… well he really doesn’t care about getting his webbed feet wet Lol!🤣
So before we climbed to our main destination today, the North Eastern ridge top of Sumas Mountain, we headed down into this grassy field.
I looked down at the “Waterproof” tag on my expensive morale, hiking boots…………
Within minutes I could feel water soaking through to my socks!🙄
We were committed…….
How do they say it……we were past the point of no return Lol!😇
This pond is fed from the somewhat frozen creek you see later in my post.
This is the local watering hole for the Deer population, so I followed a beat down Deer trail through the field thinking it was a bit drier………
“Silly Silbertop, Deer not care about getting feet wet!”🐸
Yep…. PEPE was very correct, every place I stepped oozed water!😮
We finally picked our way through the field and were standing on the dry shore of the pond.
“Silbertop, we come back when air is hot, I bring my Lady for date!”🐸
OK PEPE……. when it’s Summer Lol…..
Let’s see if we can find a slightly drier path back out now!😅
“I hope you snapped lots of pictures PEPE, I’m sticking to hiking the Mountains Lol!😅
