“Full Stop Scotty!😊
No it isn’t Turkey day……. It’s Labor Day my friends!🤗
Even though the Fall solstice is September 22, today marks the traditional end of summer, with schools starting back up for the year!😊
Our hiking friend Jan texted Liz………..
“I won’t be hiking today, we are heading up to “Silver Lake” for a picnic!”🤗
Cot knows how to enjoy today’s Holiday……Sleeping Lol!😻
The photo after Cot…. Mt Baker, hasn’t lost much of its perpetual glacier ice pack throughout the summer ….. or any summer in the past, It glistens white, year round!
The next craggy Mountain is called “Sisters”.
Most of the snowpack melts off this rugged mountain, giving it a Swiss/Alpine look, late into the summer!
The sun is slightly lower in the sky now…
Silvertop has been noticing this in the change in solar electric production from our array……….😎
I watched as rays of sunlight streamed through the tall trees in the forest……………
“ Look Liz, someone left a winter mitten on this fence post. I guess they are waving goodbye to summer!” 🙄
Not to worry my friends, we still have many beautiful day to hike these rugged Mountains, and Fall is Silvertop and Liz’s favorite time of year !👍
Till tomorrow Silvertop Mike 😊

Smells like fall! It is still summer here, @silvertop .
In a month or two, it will cool down a bit.

Sounds like you got a lot done on Labor Day! Let's hope Mt Baker decides to stay quiet in the foreseeable future or all that glacier will become massive mudslides. Looks like you had a beautiful day there, keep up that great exercise!

The glaciers are actually one of the things they worry about on Mount Baker…….
It’s long overdue for an interruption. It usually happens every 200 years.
They have maps that show how the liquid lava and mud will cover miles of our local rivers!🙄

The very craggy mountain is Sisters, and it usually melts almost completely off. But Mount Baker our active volcano, stays covered in snow and ice year-round!😊

It is classified as an active volcano!🙄
They say it erupts every 200 years and it is overdue! I have seen it steaming, but I have not seen an interruption …..

Far,far, away my friend!😳
I believe when Mount Saint Helens erupted years ago, it completely leveled forests for over 30 miles!🙄
At the time I was a teenager living in Cincinnati several thousand miles away and I had volcanic ash on my car!😮

volcanoes are scary. we have lots of volcanoes back in the philippines but i fortunately lived in an island without one. no volcano experience for me, not that i would like one to happen. now staying in japan, mount fuji looms in the distance

I have seen photos of Mount Fuji, it's beautiful in the distance! They usually show it with the cherry blossoms blooming in the spring, and Mount Fuji the background!😀

since it is a pretty big mountain, it is viewable from far away. it is sometimes visible in tokyo, too. and i have climbed that mountain/volcano once. and i was no where fit at that time.

That’s a short season, my friend….🙄
You are so correct camera quality has improved significantly with digital !😊

you are always welcome to climb the other months but they do not recommend that as the mountain will still be covered in snow. and probably because the inns beside the mountains will also be closed, so no food and lodging. you are up on your own outside of those months.

Sounds like you really need to be prepared during the off-season…..😇
Snow covered mountains can be very forgiving and dangerous during the winter !🙄
