He has countless fans and they know him by AB de Villiers. His batting has taken him to a place in the world of cricket that is unprecedented.
AB de Villiers was born on 1984 in South Africa. He was very good at studying. While in school, AB participated in the national science competition of his school and won first place.
He received the award from the Prime Minister of that time Nelson Mandela. AB said in an interview that his dream was to become a doctor and cricket was his love. But in the end, he became a cricketer by showing interest in love not pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor.
AB is not just good at studies or good at cricket. He is multitalented personnel. AB also got a chance at the national hockey team at the junior level. He is also a good swimmer and has won awards for swimming. He also liked or played rugby.
AB de Villiers also can play musical instruments. Now, something can be said about the cricket career of AB de Villiers, AB de Villiers played under 19 in 2002. His performance in that tournament was very good. This is why the selectors like him so much.
At the age of 20, he joined the national team as a South African player. He was a very aggressive batsman from the beginning. But could not perform very well. He was dismissed for zero in four consecutive matches at the 2007 ICC World Cup. This is a world record as no batsman has been dismissed for zero in four consecutive matches in the stage of the world cup.
Success finally comes after four years. The turning point of his life was 2008. From that point, he never had to look behind. He scored his first century against the West Indies with 146 runs in that match.

He has played 114 Tests in his career where he has scored 8765 runs. His test career is composed of 46 and 22 fifties and centuries respectively. His career-best innings in tests consisted of a mammoth 278 runs. He was unbeaten in that innings.
He has played 228 ODIs, of which has scored 9577 runs, he has scored 25 centuries and 53 fifties. His ODI best is 176 in one of his matches.
AB de Villiers has set countless records in the history of cricket. He scored 50 off 16 balls in ODIs which is a world record. One of the lowest balls to score a century and his 100 off 31 balls. Also, a world record of 150 runs in just 64 balls.

He has never been bowled out for zero in 78 Tests. It is also a world record next to the name of AB de Villiers. He also won the ICC Player of the Year award three times.
None could accept his retirement. There was no one who could have imagined that he would retire so soon. It was a shock to them.
