We are already at the end of 2021, I wish you a happy new year 2022, hopefully, all aspects of our lives in 2022 will be better and more successful than in 2021. Allow me to share stories and the festive atmosphere of watching football at my place. For me, who is no longer young, watching football is not just for watching, but my love for the Indonesian football team.

It has become a tradition in our country and I'm sure it also applies in your country that at the end of each year is a very important moment for families, especially young people, to do events and travel. In our country, the most popular tourist spot by foreign tourists including domestic tourists is the Island of the Gods, Bali. Because Bali has unique icons, ranging from stunning beaches, artistic souvenirs, and unique and interesting culture.

However, at the end of 2021, everyone was forced to refrain from doing it because in our country the authorities urge and limit community mobilization in an effort to suppress the increasing number of Covid-19 sufferers. Moreover, in the last few weeks, it is indicated that several citizens of our country have contracted a new variant of the virus, namely the Omicron variant so that everyone feels uncomfortable and their freedom is disturbed.

However, in the midst of this unfavorable condition, it was slightly healed because it turned out that several TV broadcasts were broadcasting football matches between Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore in the prestigious event in Asia, the AFF Cup, where all countries in Southeast Asia were competing.

I was able to follow the live broadcast of the match mingling in the cafe which was already filled with the majority of young people.
I watched all eyes widen at the wide white screen watching how the two sides were playing.

The thunderous cheers of the audience were unstoppable. There were several spectators who screamed hysterically when they saw the direction of the ball moving towards the opponent's goal. But when the ball went towards the goal, all the spectators fell silent, the atmosphere was quiet, the coffee served in front of him cooled, while the Aceh noodles and Martabak that were being chewed tasted bland and tasteless. That was how enthusiastic the audience was watching the football match on the white screen displayed at the cafe that night.

From watching the show together that night, there were some interesting things for me. Just watching, just be excited, just joining in is not interesting, if then there is nothing to be learned. So, last night's match provided an important note for my writing this time.

First, I saw a lot of spectators but sadly very few adhered to health protocols by wearing masks and keeping a distance. This we have to understand and they are not entirely to blame. What they see now is that in Aceh, it has been more than 6 months that no one has contracted the coronavirus anymore, during that time, the hospital no longer accepts patients who are indicated to be infected with the covid-19 virus. That may be their opinion.

Personally, I have other principles. Even though in our current region, Aceh, it can be said that the virus has disappeared, but I still stick to the adage which states "taking preventive measures from being exposed to the virus is more important than treating a disease." That's why every time I appear in a crowd, at the office, at the mall, and elsewhere, I always wear a mask and keep my distance. Awareness without being ordered to be a measure of health for anyone.

*Second, I think that watching together has built a new community that is created from a strong sense of brotherhood between them so that it manifests the spirit of nationalism without feeling any differences in ethnicity, race, and even religion between them.

The growing sense of nationality is continuously fostered in the new community by greeting each other, sitting at a table, and chatting. With the growing sense of nationality, it is possible for fights between villages, between ethnic groups, and even between religions to be minimized as much as possible. It is hoped that watching football matches together among young people can knit the spirit of nationalism to create national harmony.*

"Sepakbola untuk memperkuat semangat kebangsaan"

Kita sudah berada di penghujung tahun 2021, saya mengucapkan selamat menyambut tahun baru 2022, semoga semua aspek kehidupan kita pada tahun 2022 lebih baik dan berjaya dari pada tahun 2021. Perkenankan aku membagikan cerita dan suasana kemeriahan menonton sepakbola di tempatku. Untukku yang sudah tidak lagi muda, menonton bola itu bukan karena sekedar menonton, namun kecintaanku pada timnas sepakbola Indonesia.

Sudah menjadi tradisi di negeri kami dan saya yakin juga berlaku di negara kalian bahwa pada penghujung setiap tahun merupakan moment yang sangat penting bagi keluarga terutama kaula muda untuk melakukan event dan treveling. Di negeri kami tempat wisata yang paling digemari oleh wisatawan mancanegara termasuk juga wisatawan domestik adalah Pulau Dewata, Bali. Karena Bali memiliki icon-icon yang unik, mulai dari pantainya yang mempesona, souvenir yang serba artistik serta budaya yang khas lagi menarik.

Tetapi, itu semua pada penghujung tahun 2021 ini terpaksa semua orang menahan diri untuk tidak melakukannya karena di negara kami penguasa menghimbau dan membatasi mobilisasi masyarakat dalam rangka upaya penekanan meningkatnya jumlah penderita Covid-19. Apalagi beberapa ninggu terakhir ini terindikasi beberapa warga begara kami terjangkit virus varian baru yaitu varian omicron, sehingga semua orang merasa tidak nyaman dan terganggu kebebasannya.

Tetapi dicelah kondisi yang tidak menyenangkan itu sedikit terobati karena ternyata beberapa siaran TV menayangkan acara pertandingan sepak bola antara Indonesia, Malaysia dan Singapura dalam ajang bergengsi di Asia, Piala AFF, dimana seluruh negara di Asia Tenggara tengah bertanding.

Saya sempat mengikuti siaran langsung pertandingan tersebut berbaur di cafe yang sudah dipenuhi oleh mayoritas kaula muda.
Saya menyaksikan semua mata terbelalak ke arah layar putih yang cukup lebar itu memperhatikan cara bermain kedua kubu yang sedang berlaga.

Sorak sorai penonton yang menggelegar tak bisa dibendung. Ada beberapa penonton berteriak histeris ketika melihat arah bola melaju ke arah gawang pihak lawan. Tetapi ketika bola melaju ke arah gawang kubunya, semua penonton terdiam, suasana hening, kopi yang terhidang di depannya mendingin, sementara mie Aceh dan martabak telor yang sedang dikunyah terasa hambar tidak ada rasanya. Begitulah antusiasnya para penonton menyaksikan tayangan pertandingan sepak bola di layar putih yang terpampang di cafe tersebut malam itu.

Dari acara nonton bareng malam itu, ada beberapa hal yang menarik buat saya. Menonton saja, bersemangat saja, ikut-ikutan saja itu kurang menarik, jika kemudian tidak ada yang bisa diambil pelajaran. So, pertandingan semalam memberi catatan penting untuk tulisanku kali ini.

Pertama, saya melihat banyak penonton namun sedihnya sedikit sekali yang mematuhi protokol kesehatan dengan cara memakai masker dan menjaga jarak. Hal ini harus kita maklumi dan mereka tidak sepenuhnya dapat disalahkan. Apa yang mereka lihat saat ini di Aceh sudah lebih 6 bulan tidak ada lagi yang terjangkit virus corona, rumah sakit pun selama rentang waktu tersebut tidak ada lagi menerima pasien yang terindikasi terkena virus covid-19. Itu mungkin anggapan mereka.

Saya pribadi mempunyai prinsip lain. Meskipun di wilayah kami saat ini, Aceh dapat dibilang virus tersebut telah hilang, tetapi saya tetap berpegang kepada adegium yang menyatakan "melalukan tindakan preventif dari terkena virus lebih utama dari pada tindakan mengobati suatu penyakit." Karenanya setiap saya tampil di keramaian, di kantor, di mall dan ditempat lain, selalu menggunakan masker dan jaga jarak. Kesadaran tanpa diperintah menjadi ukuran kesehatan bagi siapapun.

Kedua, saya menilai nonton bareng telah membangun suatu komunitas baru yang tercipta dari adanya rasa persaudaraan yang kental diantara mereka sehingga mewujudkan semangat kebangsaan tanpa ada lagi terasa perbedaan suku, ras bahkan agama diantara mereka.

Tumbuhnya rasa kebangsaan itu dipupuk terus dalam komunitas baru tersebut dengan cara saling menyapa, duduk semeja dan bercengkrama. Dengan tumbuhnya rasa kebangsaan tersebut dimungkinkan perkelahian antar desa, antar suku bahkan antar agama dapat diminimalisir semaksimal mungkin. Diharapkan nonton bareng pertandingan sepak bola dikalangan kaula muda dapat merajut semangat kebangsaan untuk menciptakan suatu kerukunan berbangsa.

Harapanku, semoga postingan ini dapat memberikan sesuatu yang baru bagi kita semua. Semoga tahun baru ini dapat mewarnai kehidupan kalian yang lebih sempurna. Salam hangat selalu
