Going for the final 6kgs: January 17 2022
pleased to see my winter garden thriving on a beautiful sunny day
Well, here's a turn up, I've decided to join Slimming World. I did well last year, losing about twenty pounds in two spurts, and maintaining the lower weight in between each spurt, including over the holiday period. I've really enjoyed buying new clothes and I like how I look, but some health indicators are still risk factors and some further changes would be a good idea.
It isn't simply about weight loss, it's more about continuing to develop habits that extend a healthy life. In particular, eating and sleeping routines that fit into circadian rhythms.
When I thought about starting work on this again, I felt tired. I didn't feel I could summon the energy to get going. But drawing on Saturday Savers Club where I've set up a programme and all I have to do is turn up every week, I thought that maybe going to an established group with a plan might work.
It depends really whether I can cope with a regime of "syns" (really?) and free foods and a and b groups and all the complicated rituals (especially buy-me-ultra-processed-nonsense-"diet"-bar), when all I really want is the external group and a weekly check-in point.
My habits are quite simple:
- eat between 8.30am and 6.30pm
- no snacking
- mainly plant-based diet plus dairy and occasional meat or fish
- walking and pilates twice a week.
- be in bed by 10pm
Sounds easy enough!

Many congratulations on your achievement. I can try to comply with those habits, but being in bed at 10 pm is impossible for me.
10pm can be a challenge, but I feel so much better when I do 😍.
What stops you? Or maybe you have a different life-style?
At that time I'm having dinner, it's a matter of customs.
Ah, yes, that makes sense.
Funny you should mention Slimming World. We had a SW Enchilada Lasagne for dinner tonight.
We often use the recipes from the 'Pinch of Nom' books just because we like them.
Good luck with it! 💙
My downward spiral started when I stopped cooking for a family, routine went out the window and mostly I can't be bothered to make composite meals with different stages 😂. I think I need to start cooking/eating earlier in the day. Maybe this will inspire me 😎. Your dinner looks very tasty.
Yeah. It was. I'm very lucky as John does most of the cooking. When it's left to me I usually settle for a ready meal and a bag of microwave vegetables. 😂
Although I did cook Christmas lunch this year as John had Covid.
I'm the same 😂
You're going for the 10-14 diet, that sounds really tough!! Good luck with your diet!!
Is it? I'll let you know when I get there!

What a lovely garden.
Thank you 😊 That's just outside my back door.
Somehow I’m unable to keep up with the few plants on my balcony. I have to find some time to give them more attention or get some cactus 🌵 instead or is it cacti.
I'm like that with houseplants, if they survive it's more luck than judgement!
Congratulations, This is really impressive
Have a nice day ❤️
Thank you 🙂
A friend of mine in the UK went with them and had good results. I think it is much like out "Weight Watchers". Best of luck. We will be here to cheer you on!!!
That's good to know ❤️
Not too easy 😅
I am trying to lose some too. On the third day of healthy Keto, just need to get back into the fitness habit. I tried 15 min of pilates a week ago and it was surprisingly relaxing. But I am not sure if it does help burn body fat.
Wishing you stay strong on your healthy mission!
Oh, good wishes to you, too!
The Pilates is for strength and flexibility (and balance) rather than fat burning (plus, I do enjoy it) 😂. I try and hold small weights for some of the movements, if I remember.
I don't know too much about keto, but it seems to work well for a lot of people.
It was gathering the necessary motivation this time round which was my stumbling block, hopefully having a regular check-in will help.
Let's see how we get on 🍎🥒🥑🥦🥬
