My Actifit Report Card: February 13 2025

My greetings to all enthusiasts of a healthy lifestyle!

Today was quite an active day. I was busy with a useful task—I replaced the pneumatic cylinder on my computer chair. This part is responsible for raising and lowering the chair. Over time, its lifespan wears out, and the pneumatic cylinder needs to be replaced.

The main difficulty lies in how to free it from the base and the top plate. The top plate is the support plate to which the chair is attached. Here’s what the parts of the chair looked like before I started disassembling the piston.

Preemptively, I poured oil into the joints of the piston and waited a bit for the oil to penetrate deep into the joint. Taking the chair mechanism in my left hand and a rubber mallet in my right, I began to knock out the base. After about a hundred strikes, the upper part finally came off.

Next, I took a short break and continued to knock out the base. The process was long and at times seemed exhausting, as the base wouldn't budge from the piston.

Then I decided to change my working strategy. I took a heavier iron mallet and began to strike each leg of the base. Soon the base came off, and I was pleased.

The entire process engaged my hands quite well, giving them a good workout.

As always, I walked, climbed stairs, and carried a small load on my back in my backpack. That was my day.
