Manchester United 2024/2025: Unveiling the Game-Changing Season Under New Leadership
Hello everyone, you might be thinking what brought me back here to write a blog again after a long time. Well, there is a certain club that I support and they are currently cooking up something incredible for the upcoming season. You might have guessed already, it is Manchester United. Let’s take a look at Manchester United from last season and what they look like now.
Season 2023/2024
Let's take a look at last season, when Ralf Ragnick was interim coach of Manchester United. Ralf Ragnick is a high profile manager and had success with two Bundersliga teams before coming to Manchester United. He wanted to invest in young blood and he also wanted to implement gegenpress playing style as well, which is his signature style. You can read more about gegenpress if you don't know but it is said that Ralf Ragnick is the master of gegenpress and that his style has been an inspiration for various coaches.
Before Ralf Ragnick left and even during his service, he had a lot to say about the Manchester United structure, but at that time people were blaming him for the team's bad performances. Myself and a lot of fans have said for ages that our team doesn't buy quality players, but are only rumored to them for a whole transfer window. The problem wasn't Ralf, but the board structure.
First of all, Ralf Rangnick wanted to groom the younger players to build a team around them, which led to a fight between him and Cristiano Ronaldo. Secondly, he promoted Garnacho to the senior team because he saw the talent Garnacho had and still has. Rangnick at his time recommended a handful of players because Manchester United needed a lot of improvements, he recommended players like Haaland, Enzo, Gvardiol, Nkunku, Julian Alvarez, Luis Diaz, Vlahovic and Morata. All these players were incredibly talented and if not all, but if we would have signed only two players out of this list, the team would have been something else. But, the board and especially the owners didn't back Rangnick and the other teams got the chance to sign these players. It is very disappointing to see these players perform for other teams against us whereas they could have played for us instead. There was only one reason for almost all the problems, and it was the owners and board members. Take a look at the previous board hierarchy of Manchester United below 🔽
Upcoming Season 2024/2025
This season, a lot of things have changed for Manchester United. As Ralf Rangnick said during his time that this club needs a surgery, they have finally been able to do so. There is a completely new board hierarchy, there is also a new owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe who is a successful businessman and is working hard to get the club back on track. Till date Manchester United has made two signings, in Zirkzee and Yoro to replace Varane and Martial. Two very young promising players and apart from other seasons this time the board was quick to make the decisions and sealed the deals early to focus on further signings.
As for now, the club is working on De ligt and Ugarte signings and both the players want to join the club as well, which has been a problem before. Hopefully they will be able to sign both these players, and if they do so, this will be an incredible transfer window for them. This will also boost the morale and confidence in the club as well.
Lastly, as a Manchester United fan, I'm really happy to see some structure at the club, where everyone from owner, coach to players are working hard. May this season bring some more trophies and hopefully put us back among the top clubs. Let me know where you think Manchester United will finish this season?
