As the January transfer window has come to a close, all transfer activities are now moved to the summer, unless the player to be signed is a free agent. So let's take a look at how it all went down on deadline day.
It seems English Premier League (EPL) clubs are beginning to gain grounds from the effect of Covid as a total of 12 EPL transfers In the last day took the spending tally to a total of £295m, it's the second-highest total in history, only behind 2018's deadline day spending of £430m. With the highest spenders in this January window coming from the bottom 5 clubs in Newcastle, Everton, and Burnley.
Newcastle, with their newfound wealth, emerged the highest spenders as they sealed deals for midfielder Bruno Guimaraes of Olympic Lyon for £35m with add-ons in the region of £6.6m, striker Chris Wood of Burnley for £25m, right-back Kieran Trippier of Atletico Madrid for £12m, and Brighton's Dan Burn for £13m
Everton who find their selves in the relegation battle not only shopped for players but also a new Manager in former Chelsea boss and England International Frank Lampard. Everton managed to acquire the services of Dele Alli of Tottenham for £40m, Nathan Patterson Patterson of Rangers for £16m, and Donny van de Beek Beek of Manchester United on loan.
There were minimal or no deals of income from the heavyweights in the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool Chelsea and Arsenal except Tottenham who acquired the services of Juventus duos in Dejan Kulusevski on Loan and Rodrigo Bentancur for £15.9m.
Manchester City signed a single player in Julian Alvarez of River Plate for £14.1m - of which he was loaned back to the Argentine club for the remainder of the season.
Liverpool made a great signing in Luis Diaz of Porto, who joins them in a deal worth 45m euros (£37.5m), with a further 15m euros (£12.5m) in performance-related bonuses, making him the highest incoming player to the league.
The likes of Chelsea and Man United ended up not bringing anyone in, even as Arsenal waited till deadline day to bring in Austin Trusty of Colorado FC, although he remains with them till the summer transfer window.
The biggest signing in terms of the amount paid for in Europe came in the person of Dusan Vlahovic of Fiorentina whom Juventus signed for an initial amount of £58m with performance-related bonuses. Among this category is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang moving to Barcelona from Arsenal on a free transfer.

BIGGEST SPENDERS: The January transfer biggest spenders is Newcastle United as they seek to avoid relegations. Newcastle went all out in the market to make some good deals.

Newcastle spent a total sum of £91.9M which is about 30.9% of the total amount spent by the entire English team.
BIGGEST WINNERS: In my humble opinion the biggest winners of this transfer window have to be Barcelona getting the Calibre of Aubameyang for free and Juventus getting their man.
BIGGEST LOSERS: Unfortunately, it has to be my darling team, Arsenal. Arsenal lost out on their main target in Vlahovic and ended up losing their former captain and anchorman Aubameyang. With a further 6 players in Maitland-Niles (Roma; loan), Balogun (Middlesbrough; loan), Kolasinac (Marseille; free), Mari (Udinese; loan), John-Jules (Sheffield Wednesday; loan) and Chambers (Aston Villa; free) with no replacements, thus having a depleted team. Hope they get what they seek.
I can never stop being appreciative of your great efforts. Thank you all for always making out time to go through my work. I can never say thank you enough. You are my real MVPs.
THANK YOU ALL!!!
NOTE: Always have a smile on your face, as you are never fully dressed without one.
